So I was just going through the keynote on Evolved PLD and noticed something pretty interesting.
So executing Holy Sheltron goes into a retaliation strike, if timed correctly.
1. Regular timing: Answering Strike
2. Perfect timing: Satisfaction (more potent)
But in addition to this the skill Intervene includes both clemency and cover. Cover being the more interesting part of this ofcourse diverting any attack targeted from another player to self.
What this means is that if a boss does dmg to anyone with a single strike and a player is in trouble, PLD can save the situation by rushing to the target, giving them cover.
What's more if you combine Holy Sheltron with Intervene you also activate the Regular Timing: Answer Strike.
They did not show if the Perfect Timing: Satisfaction would activate, but my assumption is, yes.
But in order to do this you would have to do Intervene> Holy Sheltron to get the perfect timing out.
Now here's the insane part. Holy Sheltron barely has any recast time according the video, it's treated as a regular instantcast without a cooldown. As opposed to having a 5second recast time.
Once more PLD intervene has 2 charges.
So technically speaking what PLD can do now is;
See anyone is standing in a mechanic > intervene > Holy Sheltron > Perfect time Satisfaction
See anyone else standing in a mechanic, and do it again as long as you have enough health and mit.
What's even more insane about this is, what if you have 2 PLD in your party? Let's say you don't use "one player per job". This would circumvent the MT and OT system, if it is indeed such that off tanks are WAR, DRK and GNB. And assuming there wont be any limitations brought to party set-ups.
So lets set the stage that without healers. There are 2 TB's that go off, they go off one after the other in an alternating fashion, so 1left-2right-3left-4right and these are something tanks have to take.
MT1 tank is at 80% and MT2 is at 100%.
MT2 could in this case Intervene > Holy Sheltron > Retaliate, run back to his spot if there's time before second TB hit.
MT1 now still with 80% health could use Intervene > Holy Sheltron > Retaliate, run back.
And now MT1 is at 60% and MT2 is at 80%.
Now the following 2 hits would do so much dmg that MT1 would die at 60% health, well MT2 still has enough health and resources to do another intervene into sheltron and retaliate.
And because intervene includes clemency MT1 would gain enough health, to stay alive for saving MT2 who's very low.
Ofcourse feel free to correct me on this if I misunderstood something, maybe the MT and OT system is somehow forced and situations like this would not be possible. It's still cool that PLD can essentially from the look of things save 2 people from mechanics and have a retaliation strike from both.
