If one version of the job performs better, then I worry this will lead to how this create social conflict. Such as evolved-only parties or "no reborn [job]" or stigma for playing a certain version of a job.

It's absolutely going to happen. Tryhards will always push for people to use whatever is sweatiest, that's unavoidable in any cooperation based online game. If they added specs like WoW this would happen too. You can simply avoid those groups though or make your own, so in the end this is a non-issue. If someone badmouths you in DF for playing what's "suboptimal", simply report them and move on. Standard schoolyard bullying logic applies, if you get upset they win.
In short, yes this will happen. It's not a problem though, this is the least of our concerns.

It's supposed to have just a very little margin of difference between Reborn and Evolved, so unless people are trying Week 1/World First (Which we can admit it is a minority fraction of community) I believe there should be no need for worries. Obviously I can be wrong and the system comes absolutely broken, so let's hope Yoshi-p is certain about the balacing issue![]()
This will happen, it would also have happend if instead of new mode, we got specs. People would just exclude those that played the subpar spec.
How is this any different than now? We already have jobs that perform slightly better damage than others, having a slight difference with play-styles is no different.
However, the only people that care about a 1-5% DPS difference are those progging week 1.
What matters more is how well someone can play the game. I rather have someone using a sub-optimal job or play-style that's good and makes no mistakes over someone messing up and causing dumb wipes on what's considered "best."
We've had MCH in the way it is for years, and save for exactly one brief period during EW where the math actually got fucked, people don't really block off MCH from PF. The difference has to be very significant for this to actually happen.

Well evolved jobs have similar yet different rotations and also new buttons. And while some effects might be like Mage's Ballad for Bard, how that functions between a Reborn Bard and an Evolved Bard are different. And since the evolved system is being applied to 21 jobs, we are effectively doubling are current amount of non-limited jobs from 21 to 42. Then you add in the two new 8.0 jobs and we are sitting at 44 different sorts of jobs, in different combinations, that could be in the same party. I can't in good faith believe these 44 are balanced well with each other. That I feel there is going to be the equivalent of 7.0 Pictomancers running around from evolved version for certain, which need I remind, Pictomancer made every other caster look-like low DPS by comparison on launch.
We'll have regionwide party finder so i promise you it won't matter. Join groups that don't have that restriction, they'll end up better anyway. People who locked mch's from groups weren't gonna clear.
Let's increase the number of abilities, produce variety, builds, multiple levels of engagement or build theory crafting, and explore some creativity.
Otherwise we might as well just have a one button rotation. IMO. Streamline it to the fullest. If you're going to consolidate, consolidate, consolidate - just consolidate it all into one button I can press while following boss mechanics.

Youre talking about special snowflakes creating their own party they see fit. If you dont like it, create your own. This rule has always applied and still will apply in the future.
They have stated both versions will clear any content just fine.
