Hi!
I've been thinking about this for a while and finally decided to create a forum account to share this with others.
Please, in future patches/expansions, is it possible to get those invisible walls that block certain areas in old and new content alike removed? I've seen a shift from this in new content, but there are still a lot of limitations. I feel like the overworld and some other areas are "too safe".
I can't fall to my death, for example. I feel like it removes the thrill of adventure. Sometimes the world just feels like a huge zoo or an amusement park instead of what it's supposed to be, a danger-filled wilderness.
Improved fall damage that can actually kill after an extreme height threshold; lava pits that can damage or kill us if stayed for long periods of time, unlike the volcano in The Ruby Sea; places that if I were to misstep, I can fall to my death if I'm not riding any mounts... Who knows? Maybe we could have more parkour spots on the overworld!
With that introduced, a new feature could be added in tandem- a gliding system! We could use the Company/Companion Chocobo to glide without any mount action. That would only be possible once we get all the Aether currents for the area. I think that would add a nice extra motivation to look for it. That not only would make sense with the new Companion updates coming, but it would also fall under the "new expansion mechanic" (ex, mount, flight, and underwater exploration)
In hindsight, I think the Sightseeing Log should give more EXP and other rewards if the stakes of exploring increased like this. Anything related to the overworld and other open areas should feel rewarding.
I can imagine some counterarguments. Like, not everyone would welcome the new threats/obstacles. But what if it had a proper level progression? Higher-level maps would have harsher environments.
Thank you for reading this. I really appreciate it.
