    Patch 7.5 Discussion Thread

    CC
    new arena, new glam rewards, map now rotates every 60min

    Frontline

    Huge ones:
    • Rating will no longer decrease when a player is incapacitated.
    • Rating gained from knockouts and assists is now affected by the Battle High status of the opponent.
    • Worqor is removed from daily rotation (and minor worqor fixes)

    Do i read this correctly? Battle high now is not reduced with death?

    Haven't played FL in forever, but if I had to take a guess in the dark, essentially parity with how Soaring Stacks in Rival Wings don't get reduced on death (assuming that's still how they work?).

    CC arena rotation being every 60min is nice though. Personally would still prefer randomized on each entry (roulette style random) but this is a decent alternative.

    FL will be carnage on Tuesday. They seem to be encouraging faster confrontations and more aggressive play with this and the last BH update. Personally I’m all for that because there aren’t many things more mind numbing than a never ending three way at mid on Onsal Hakair that only stops when another A rank spawns and someone gives up, so hopefully something like this might help. Might also make the situation where one team of premades has two full parties of BH5 by mid game and nobody else can compete less common if the winning team can’t stomp out the others’ BH before they get a chance to build it up

    This is my worry, in a decent team with a premade you can get to BH5 within 1-2 pulls. If in the past you could kind of sandwich them and take them down a notch - now it's going to be much more difficult to counter.
    Something I am thinking about is that playing support actually becomes a lot more valuable, so as to reduce the speed with which enemy builds BH.
    I also worry that lack of punishment for deaths will result in more stupid plays, aka "i didn't lose anything, so who cares!"

    In a more day-to-day scenario it's the reduction of difference between actual pvp players and rouletters, which is kinda a bit sad really

    Valid fears. On the other hand it should be easier to catch up so the playing field is more or less even by endgame. I think it could end up doing either, or both. It will probably just depend on the match and players.

    Probably, but TBH the people who this happens to are probably not people who were playing very conservatively in the first place.

    I fear so. It’s kind of catering to feeders who can’t stay off the ground. Always have thought Frontlines was a very fun and unique concept for a PVP mode but it gets routinely ruined by being just too casual focused, what with the roulette, the RNG focus and now this update. Oh well. At least there are players.

    A feel good change to make awful players feel better about themselves by obtaining BH5 by barely contributing while going 0-10. A player that does 100k damage over the course of an entire match isn't going to be any more useful now that they can have bh5 for free.

    This change just means they have one less thing to blame why they're trash at FFXIV pvp.

    - No more battle high loss is ludicrous. This is going to remove all skill expression, no more work involved to keep it, no more risk, and more importantly, not possible to cull down high BH players from the team that's snowballing to victory. If they wanted to prevent people to make comebacks, they wouldn't proceed any better. I don't understand who came up with this change and why, except probably to turn BH away from skill reward and toward something people just accrue as the game goes as long as they're participating...

    - More BH gains when killing higher BH, that's a good change. But combined with the above, everybody and their moms are gonna end BH5 mid game... What a joke.

    In theory I'd like randomized, but then I remember that some jobs I play are absolutely terrible on a couple of maps, so i'd rather be able to dodge them.

    Agreed.

    Only saving grace I could see is scaling XP/tome gain based on BH by the end of the game. Surely now is the time to do it - if you ain't got BH5 by the end of the game - what are you even doing...
    But then again it's not like rouletters care...
