Im a PlayStation exclusive user. The plot I have now doesn't even remotely resemble the idea I had in my head. Its a emergent design of having the system question me every now and again. If the system tell me "No" then I'm going to find a way around the rules, or I am going to create an emergent design because I'm pushed into a alternate path. And because I understand the effort it takes to commit to some of the designs they create. It makes it that much more impressive.

Sure, you can make a pretty layout, but if I can replicate it in half the time. Its not really that impressive. Its just a re-arrangement of styles at that point. And whatever "innovative style" you think you can come can just be replicated. Its just a matter of item X, Y, and Z axis.

But in the current system, I can see your level of commitment to your willingness to see the vision through despite the systems limitations, and if you arnt willing to deal with that annoyance. What else could you create?

The Scion's jacket for the longest time was color locked to red. It pissed me off, but I really liked the look of my Character in the jacket..So I built the style around it. An over time it really grew on me. You'd think my favorite color is Red, alas it is Blue. But because I was somewhat forced into Red as a color I've come to appreciate red, and Incoporated it as a color even IRL.

A long time ago, back in 2013. I struggled trying to find an eye color for my character. An in Abit of frustration, I said "screw it" because I didn't know what to make her eye color. So I though "just go with the emissive look, it matches her in-game counterpart anyway".

So I yanked the slider to clear out the eye, but instead it yanked the Iris to white, but left the pupils black. Wasn't what I wanted. The friction created it own emergent aesthetic. And it looked far better then what I planned for, and tried to do.

Your point of the artist shouldn't be defined by his tool is very true. But when the outcome has no weight because theirs no story to tell outside "I placed it there" Its valuing the effort spent in the journey of creating something that can be a growing experience not for in-game but RL. And to be frankly honest. Its the only place where I feel I can be at home IG lol Getting to sit in their Apt with them, helping them pick their brains for thoughts and ideas and workarounds and a shift in how they approach creativity as a problem solving method but a look into the creativity they never knew they themselves had. Its where the game feels the most enjoyable. I never have to lift an item, I get to watch the gears turn, the bits of frustration when they hit a creative brick wall, that eurika moment when they find a better alternative or a workaround. And watch them realize most of the way through a build, that the house they are standing in, matches nothing up to the reality they see and realize. They've still created exactly what they've wanted

Its not that adding a tool is bad. But you lose the friction needed for creative processing... Its just a trade off, some don't mind the trade off. I see the delayed gratification side-effect and the forced lateral thinking as a benefit in the long run.
