So does my work get a free pass because the friction of the medium?

Or your friends (and you by extension) lose the right to speak because you and them gave up on the vision because you didn't master the medium, you sidestepped it. Which strips you of your right to talk about creativity..

it's every creator's own choice if they want to push limit, or buttons, or both. i think freedom to choose is very important when it comes to art-- imo more important that feeling optimal level of discomfort when creating it.
i don't believe for a second that minimal level of discomfort on the creator's part for the thing to reach the status of art exists. outside the realm of opinions, it seems really hard to prove for the starters...

i cannot know if that limit pushing leads to some kind of impressive masterpiece, or piece of s#it. wasn't the the beauty in the eye of some beholder guy anyway

the fake furniture floats all the same whether it's put in it's place with system, or with glitch in system. and let's not shame Papa Johns enjoyers... i dont even live in USA so i've no idea is the place name is shorthand for some shitty pizza time.

When? Soon I hope, if people want to use the old way feel free, I'm all for easier movement and floating, resizing, unlimited placement etc.

Was on vacation, was happy to heard about new features in housing annouced at Berlin Fan Fest 2026. A long-awaited breath of optimism: the housing will finally be updated!

Solowing, advanced editor confirmed, no more points for me to discuss anything with you anymore. "Laws of nature"? "Sweat tax"? i'm not your therapist to listen all this nonsence again and again. There is a difference between fiction of a single dreamer and real facts that are supported by scientific research and studies.

    Link 1:

This finding moves the key research question away from whether constraints in general are good or bad for creativity and toward (a) uncovering what kinds and levels of constraints are most productive and (b) integrating that evidence into a theory that makes testable predictions about the impact of constraints on creativity

While self-report data suggest that people feel more creative when they have more rather than less choice in a creative task (Sellier & Dahl, 2011), studies on constraints in creativity show that actual creative performance may contradict such self-reported feelings of creativity. More creative outcomes often emerge under more constrained conditions that allow less choice (e.g., Medeiros et al., 2016; Mehta & Zhu, 2016; Rosso, 2014; Stokes, 2006). Increasing constraints — and thereby decreasing choice and limiting options – actually promotes creativity.

    Link 2:
Computer scientist and IT expert Dovan Rai describes the mechanism precisely. Creative ideas arrive during walks or showers, she says, because those moments are about making connections that are not obvious. The brain needs unstructured time, resistance, and the absence of an easy answer before it will produce something worth keeping.

    Link:3:
In my book, “Creative Velocity”, I discuss constraints and how they can help improve creative problem-solving. When we think about problem-solving, it’s natural to assume that fewer limits = better outcomes. After all, greater freedom should allow us to explore every possible avenue.

Surprisingly, research and real-world practice show the opposite: constraints often improve problem-solving and spark more inventive outcomes

    Link 4:
“If you look at people who don’t have resources or only have limited resources, they actually end up being more creative with what they have,” he said. “If you go to a poor country and see how they solve problems by repurposing older products, it’s super-innovative. When times are tough, resource-poor people become more creative in their use of everyday products.”

The inverse also is true: When a general sense of abundance is prevalent, a constraint mindset will not be activated and individuals are less likely to move away from the traditional functionality of a given product, thereby resulting in lower levels of creativity.

    -

You called me ignorant using articles that entirely validates my point. I don't need to insult you. The truth speaks for itself and cuts deeper than any insult I could throw.

I understand the want for a easier tool, but the tools friction as is what forces that creative gear to kick in..

It is great that you finally read it! Sad you did it wrong...
Why did you focused on the word "constraints" while completely ignored other points in those articles?

    Link 1:
The text said “what kinds and levels of constraints are most productive.” Limiting design choices (fewer assets) fosters creativity. Depriving players of basic tool control due to a poor UI does not.
    Link 2 (about AI):
You missed the entire point of the article. Dovan Rai says the brain needs unstructured time to make creative connections. Mechanical friction (fighting a broken UI) steals that time. The author of this very article explicitly states that while conceptual resistance is good, system/interface friction actively kills creativity.
    Link 3:
The author of "Creative Velocity" discusses "problem-solving" within a design framework, not overcoming software defects. Real creative problem-solving in housing means finding a clever approach to zoning, color theory, or style. Spending hours to fighting with glitches to bypass a missing Z-axis isn't "inventive problem-solving", don't you think? I’s just a workaround for a flawed tool that has nothing to do with design talent.
    Link 4:
You are misinterpreting your own quote.... The text explicitly says scarcity drives creativity by forcing people to "move away from the traditional functionality of a given product." Need example? Turning a bookshelf backward to create a wooden wall -that is creative solution. But a Z-axis is not a "product with traditional functionality"—it is a basic dimension of 3D space. Depriving players of basic 3D positioning doesn't change how they view an item's function; it just adds tedious mechanical friction to an already creative process.

Conclusion: research supports specific constraints, not artificial suffering due to a flawed UI.

The reason I and other players disagree with you is because your point of view is completely unbalanced and one-sided, maybe because its based solely on your personal experience, Solowing?
I gave you articles to broaden your horizons, I hope you will at least think about it.

Your broad one's horizon at the very articles you post actually agree with my perspective , the fact that you actually have to go in and try to retreat , translate their words when the plain text spelled out for you.

It's gonna take a little while to compile all of this , but I will and it'll be on this post. Every time that article agrees with me. The thing is, I can look at the plain face text of it.And understand where it relates to my position.

You have to quite literally retranslate what they said, because the plane face texts doesn't quite agree with you.So you have to interpret it to your own position

The human brain, as psychologist Aarati Gurung explains, is always ready to grab the easiest path. That is not a bug in human cognition. It is an adaptation that served us for a hundred thousand years. The problem is that the friction AI removes is not waste. It is the process itself.

Well looks promising Yoshi P's mention of WoW housing making him more aware of xiv housings shortcomings. Two major housing updates for 8.0 is exciting. I expect one will be making things easier to place given his mention of UI.

And I guess housing mirage mentioned will be coming too. Bit annoying it takes WoW showing up XIV in a public way for them to get their ass in gear and fix long standing issues with the system but hey... I'll take it.
