Since this is also a bit of Beastmaster related talk, why not make it an action instead of a Limited job.
Let us capture Beasts in the Wild and give them orders, call it beastmastering and allow us to use the Beasts along our main job as long as we are in the open world.
I don't know why this had to be a job.
The job was a major selling point for DT, and so a lot of people were looking forward to it. Although, I did not expect them to release the job, with so much restriction attached, at the very end of the expansion.

So nice of them to add SMN back into the game but why is it a limited job?
While I agree that they were janky, that doesnt mean SE should scrap the idea overall. Other modern MMOs do pet classes and do them well. There's no reason SE could not have put their minds to it and come up with something unique and fitting for Summoner.
I was super happy with SMN back in FFXI, and while I understand it doesnt fit the way things work in FFXIV, it could still shine as a proper pet class with a bit of TLC and planning. I was at one point really in awe of new summoner until it became clear how bland the job had become and how pointless Carbuncle now feels.
It needs a good shine! I would still prefer it to be a pet class. At the very least let Carbuncle fight again instead of staring blankly at us.
Because that's what they always do. Advertise something at the beginning of expansion to make huge sales and then "oh it's for 7.5 buddy". We've been waiting for 2.5 years since the start of DT, to get blue mage update only to get it taken away from us because apparently they spent all resources on bm. Beast mastery is the same shenanigans. Let me guess, when 7.5 comes, they will say: "oh we said 7.5 but we didn't say which one!". So you'll have to wait for 7.55 or 7.56. Enjoy waiting 3-4 more months for this content kek.
Amazing
Summoner is a garbage class and that's the end of the story. All they ever get is just a new bahamut version #123413 and that's it. Imagine having a proper pet class or similar but nah that would be too much work for them. Having something unique is bad for the game apparently. I much more prefer endwalker summoner when my carbuncle could damage and I had dots. This one is insanely boring to play.
What's worse is that everytime I try Summoner, I can feel its low dps right away and it buggers me. Then I just return to Samurai and blast my way through content with breeze because Summoner takes ages to do something due to low dps.
Not like BM is going to be something different when you already have 1,2,3 combo as usual because once again, imagine having something new.

It had all that in Shadowbringers not Endwalker. Summoner has been almost the same rotation for two expansions now and it's honestly pretty boring, which is a shame because I loved it pre-Endwalker. I enjoy actually summoning G/I/T but most of what made it fun to play is now gone.

I stopped playing Summoner. I like the concept behind the most recent versions but I got bored of it. And...I find the presence of the summons on the battlefield annoying and distracting, even with size changes. Moments where I am blinded by allied summoners I find annoying which makes me feel bad for those I inflicted that upon.

lol all the people in here forgetting that Summoner wasn't a pet job until FFX, and even then it was never a full pet job outside of XI and pre-6.0 XIV. Current Summoner is much closer to classic FF Summoner and I much prefer it that way. Solar Bahamut is a big stinker tho, terrible capstone both visually and mechanically.

I look just like the roes next door... if you happen to live next door to an amusement park.
I mained Scholar for most of ARR and HW. It was absolutely capable of everything it needed to do, but it was pretty much the only job where the main enemy was early ARR programming. Their current firms was the devs just throwing that stuff in the trash and the results were both much more reliable to play and play with.
Which is what I was saying.lol all the people in here forgetting that Summoner wasn't a pet job until FFX, and even then it was never a full pet job outside of XI and pre-6.0 XIV. Basically people just really want Summoner to be a pet job. Because they really want a pet job. And apparently current SMN is super unpopular with us way more plugged in players because it's the "simple" job despite it being healthy to have a job that's very easy to pick up and play decently well, and having it's support utility is great for that, too.
Solar Bahamut also fascinates me. A few of older FF's (VII in particular) would have variations of Bahamut as unique summons you could collect, so it's not new either, but Solar Bahamut in FFXIV is very clearly meant to be HYDAELYN but with a spoiler free coat of paint so as not to ruin the reveal waaaay later in ShB that she's an elder primal.
But it just doesn't work aesthetically and doesn't change a thing about how SMN plays other than the AOE heal opening up.

I'm confused at people saying this like huh I thought we hated how simplified & little buttons SMN has & now you're all trying dunk on it with a Job with fewer buttons than has ;p
A system error occurred during event movement.
