I really think level caps in FFXIV should be tied more closely to your progress in the MSQ. Right now, it’s very easy to overlevel or even hit max level on jobs without being anywhere near caught up in the story, which feels a bit disconnected from how the game is designed.

The MSQ is the backbone of the entire experience—it unlocks dungeons, trials, systems, and gives context to everything you’re doing. But because leveling is so accessible through roulettes, side content, and bonuses, a lot of players end up prioritizing EXP over narrative progression.

If level caps were gradually unlocked based on MSQ milestones, it would naturally guide players to experience the story at a more intended pace. You’d still have flexibility to level multiple jobs, but you wouldn’t be able to completely outpace the content that gives those levels meaning.

This could also help new players feel less overwhelmed. Instead of racing to max level and then realizing they still have hundreds of quests to go, progression would feel more cohesive and rewarding step by step.

I’m not saying restrict freedom entirely—but aligning level progression more closely with MSQ progression could make the overall experience feel a lot more intentional and immersive.

I see a lot of level 80 players with content no higher than alexander unlocked and its really bumming out my queues.
