The game practally throws exp at you. If you're doing dailies, keeping up with unlocks, and pvping alongside the MSQ; it adds up pretty fast. It also means you can play side jobs, enjoy a variety of content, and still be on level for MSQ. I have more of an issue with queue times for dungeons and trial than I do with the amount of exp the game gives me.

I'm not sure what purpose that would serve, my gameplay experience (or anyone else's) would not be made better by locking me at level 80 until I've finished Dawntrail, especially when I have little motivation to do Endwalker/Dawntrail right now anyway (and even Shadowbringers was a struggle to force myself through).

And as someone else mentioned, this wouldn't help with optional side content anyway, where I'm perfectly fine with leaving Nier and Eden unfinished and have no desire to unlock the raids in EW/DT even if I reach them.

If anything I regret unlocking raids post-Crystal Tower and post-Alexander because Mhach/Ivalice/Omega weren't fun for me, and now I just avoid doing both raid roulettes so I don't risk getting dragged into fights I don't like, rewards be damned. Your queue times would still be a bummer because I'm not signing up to do the content even though I have access to it, and will skip unlocking other content going forward.

It would be better for longevity to revisit level sync and its impact on your available abilities. Then this whole issue wouldn't even matter.

This is fine, and even preferable for some players.

The MSQ is the backbone of the entire experience—it unlocks dungeons, trials, systems, and gives context to everything you’re doing. But because leveling is so accessible through roulettes, side content, and bonuses, a lot of players end up prioritizing EXP over narrative progression.
    That's their choice to make.

If level caps were gradually unlocked based on MSQ milestones, it would naturally guide players to experience the story at a more intended pace. You’d still have flexibility to level multiple jobs, but you wouldn’t be able to completely outpace the content that gives those levels meaning.
What is being outpaced anyway? Dungeons are synced. Story duties are synced. The only thing that gets bypassed is having to grind gear that gets outdated in 10 minutes. I don't see the loss.

This could also help new players feel less overwhelmed. Instead of racing to max level and then realizing they still have hundreds of quests to go, progression would feel more cohesive and rewarding step by step.
I've never heard anyone overwhelmed by leveling pace. The common suggestion to avoid wasting XP in novice network is to try other jobs.

I’m not saying restrict freedom entirely—but aligning level progression more closely with MSQ progression could make the overall experience feel a lot more intentional and immersive.
I don't see any benefits personally. I'd think it would make things worse.

I see a lot of level 80 players with content no higher than alexander unlocked and its really bumming out my queues.
What would change? You'd have level 60 players instead of level 80 but synced to 60 players in your roulette.

This I can support. ARR being free to explore was great. The rest of the game should follow.

If it further exposes how bland and boring ARR content ACTUALLY IS when over HALF of your abilities and traits just straight up don't work because of how bad level sync ACTUALLY IS, then I'm all for it...
