Sorry, with the release of clear throwbacks to FFVII with this years FanFest items of the Red XIII and similar Cloud bike...it clearly goes with the theme of a industrial wasteland vibe.

If you know anything about the lore of Meracydia, great parts of it was left in ruin because of Allagan Empire during the Third Astral Era...in essence, great parts of it are industrial wastelands.

How does this tie to FF7?!?! FF7 is also a game based on the theme of a industrial wasteland that is central to the theme of environmental destruction. This was done in FF7 by Shinra, while in FF14, this was done by again the Allagan Empire. Both Shinra/Allagan Empire abused the "lifestream" in their respected games(Mako/Aether).

If I am wrong, I am wrong...and you can call me out on it if I am. But I don't think that I am!

It's possible, but we've had FF7 bikes for two other expansions' Fan Fests and the story doesn't seem related.

It is usually the preorder and collector's edition minion/mounts that hint at things, and it's usually only partial references (like how Dawntrail isn't entirely FF9 but just uses some references).

I believe we are done with the void forever. We finished that story - for good.

We can't fix the void NOW, because the lore of Reaper and Black Mage depend on it. To solve that, we set some characters (Zero and Golbez) on a course to fix it "eventually" ie. when the game gets shut down. That story is done.

So your example is beyond lol! We have had multiple occasions in the past 13 years where YP has said "not in the seeable future" "not anytime soon" or any other number of phrases yet they get released within 2 years or less. And the amount of people on here that gave a thumbs up on your comment when it was easily shown to be a really bad gotcha...

Please find me a direct source where he has said we won't be going in 8.0. If you don't have a source, then my prediction is as good as yours.

Why would we waste the biggest secret left on the Source on an expansion that's at the very beginning of a story arc?

As much as I want to see Meracydia, it's very much "end of an arc" material and has been set up to be a big thing for over a decade now. I don't want them to waste it.

Small piece of puzzle are getting in place, and we now own the key to travel between reflect.
In Shadowbringer, I forgot her name but there was a warrior from the 13rd introduced to us within the job quest, where she was the "traitor" of the warrior of light withint the first reflect. She got a new quest on 7.35 when we've got pilgrim palace. There was here early talk of turning back the 13th in something habitable.

With Zero in the end of Endwalker before we've got that annoying Wuk Lamat, we were also working a lot with 13 reflect and the lore from there.

Now we've travelled too within the 9th reflect, that is mostly destroyed.

So, I think that we'll either keep going deeper withint 9th or 13th reflect, or have a whole new reflect introduced in the next expansion. But Meracydia is not for now...

Meracydia is their last "break in case of emergency", that's not fully desperate (the last desperate one is "let's bring FFVII the same way we brought FFIV"). It's still too soon for that.
