    Error Has Occured

    Every time I try to play the game on my laptop since my desktop is at the repair shop, I get "An unexpected error has occurred. Exiting FINAL FANTASY XIV.(16a)" And Googling that gets me no help, so some help is very much wanted here. Please help, as I have done everything I know to do, and can honestly say it isn't because I have OneDrive disabled on this laptop, because I hated it syncing with my desktop.

    What have you tried so far to fix it? One common workaround is renaming the data folder (C:\Users\%username%\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn). There are several reports of this resolving the issue. Have you already given that a try? The thread below suggests that deleting the folder also works. I recommend backing it up before deleting it.

    I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. For us to better assist you, please respond with the following information:

    What Platform are you using? (Steam/Windows/Mac/PS4 etc.)
    At what point does the issue occur?
    How often does the issue occur?

    Are you running any additional programs alongside Final Fantasy XIV?
    Does the issue occur with one character or multiple characters?
    When the issue happens, is the PC over heating at all?
    Were any update or changes made to the PC around the time of the issue?
    Does this issue occur if the game is run in full screen mode? Does it happen in borderless or windowed mode?

    All steps taken to resolve the issue:

    Could you provide a system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.

    Before contacting us back, please try restarting your computer then run the game as administrator and check if it helps. Let us know the outcome.

    Yeah, I've already done that. I've done everything I could find. This, make sure OneDrive is off, which is automatically off to begin with, uninstall and reinstall, and run an integrity check. I even went through and deleted all assoicated files.

    Steam on Windows PC.
    When getting to the SquareEnix logo in the game.
    Every time I try to load in.

    No, I am not running anything else.
    I can't even get to the characters to find out.
    No, it is not.
    No updates or changes.
    It happens in full, borderless, and window mode.

    Uninstall and reinstall, erase all associated files after uninstalling for a second time and reinstall, check to make sure my OneDrive was still off, rename the data folder, and run an integrity check.

    I will have to do that the next time I get on my laptop. I'm at work right now.

    I've already restarted pc and ran in administrator mode and got the same issue.
