There's a lot of things I would like the squadrons to do, and your list is just the beginning.

First, the size. Are you really commanding a Squadron if it's just eight people, and at least half of them sit in your barracks? Are you really a Captain if you don't at least command a company?

Then, the characters. Which is to say, they barely have any. What's up with Crilde's reindeer outfit, Seserikku dressing like a snowman, or E'ptolmi like a Golden Saucer bunny girl? We never get to talk to them about their backstories, meet people who knew them or their families, nothing. They're blank slates.

And then, the big issue I have with them: They're all sequestered into the barracks and single-player instances. I can put them into a uniform finally, but I can't take them out to do quests together in the overworld, nor have any squad vs. squad tactical PvP modes for them. I can't even replace the chocobo companion with one of them. Similarly, recruitment is purely random and from the barracks; I can't go around the world, see random named NPCs and ask them if they'd like to join (optionally by first doing a quest for them). I can't even do that with societies I already have "allied" rank in; no Amalj'aa, Vath, Ananta or Omicron squadron members for us!

And frankly, they should be part of the Trust System roster.
