Well FFXIV / ARR is in a rather difficult position in terms of making sure new players get a good positive experience giving ARR a try. That is, somewhat without question the most important thing for the game. I, as does everyone else, have my own list of things I'd like to be addressed or fixed ASAP, but for that to happen, the game has to succeed. For the game to succeed it needs to generate some new subscribers and a lot of interest.

The only thing I worry about is there being a lack of early / mid game population to greet the newcomers.

And as far as xp gained post-level cap, that's not gained. I don't disagree that I wish there was some sort of merit system, but there isn't. It's not like anyone grinded xp simply for xp. You did it for spirit bonding or helping others or what have you. No one should assume it's owed to them in any way. I was certainly not playing XI for the days when the cap was 50, and don't know how long it was till the first genkai to 55, but I can only assume any xp gained in that scenario was as lost as it is in this one.

I just want new players to enjoy the game, have stuff to do and there be people there to do it for them.
