How would we feel about the new phys ranged having an improved version of machinist old bullet gauge to mix and match rounds to summon effigies or fire spell infused shots?

It can work like mudra where which color combination decides whether the shot summons something, blasts a light heal or an explosive shot of various elements.

For those who arent aware of Final Fantasy Unlimited, the protagonist, Kaze uses the magun and different "soil" bullets to fire classic final fantasy summons at his enemy. Obviously summoner already exists so we can make the simulacra original monsters or things already in f14

TBH i think magun would work better a a hybrid class for getting both summoner and machinist to 100. I thought about hybrid jobs being cool for an 8.0/9.0 idea for post level 100 progression. people want a lance and shield job so paladin and dragoon could make one.

So we have gunhealer, guntank and gundamage already. And Machinist has tons of magical elements. What exactly would we be hoping here? Just the ninja or dancer minigame on machinist? Since we already got a melee DPS and a pranged DPS with this minigame, wouldn't it make more sense to add it to a caster, tank or healer first?

First, Magun would be a horrible name, and Gun Mage would be more accurate. Second, we know the new jobs are "original" jobs, and Gun Mage was never an actual job in any FF game, though it was a dress sphere. Third, anyone who has played X2 knows that gun mage is nothing like mech or dnc or brd. We also have evidence of things going in this direction, or similar at least.

Patch Notes: We have replaced the name Summoner with Gun Mage and the book weapon with the magun. In addition Gun Mage will have the following mudra-style abilities known as "soil" to perform a variety of different summon spells which will cause a summon to appear after activating the Magun Summon action.
