I'm enjoying the last few, waning moments of anyone caring about Blue Mage.
The Live Letter next week is going to announce a bunch of cool things for 7.5. Then fanfest a week after that is going to get everyone excited for 8.0. And the outrage over BLU will fade.
Hey if I can't have content, at least let me have this. :P
Back in patch 7.3 I started leveling my friends' BLUs and teaching them spells. In patch 7.4 I used the glamour unlock to glamour everything with BLU job gear. And I think that's why I'm so disappointed. I showed up to the live letter most excited for the Blue Mage section.
I can handle disappointment and delays. Endwalker - two weeks. Housing updates - one major patch. But patch 7.5 isn't like other X.1-X.4 patches. Patch 7.5 is going to last 8 months. And BLU is not likely for patch 8.01, either. (Nor would the content be wanted then.) The perfect time to revisit Endwalker is the content drought at the end of Dawntrail.
I hate to say it but the next best time to update BLU is probably patch 8.14, but that is simultaneously both despair and copium. I just made that patch up. But also I'm afraid it might be longer than that too.

Just read article saying their putting more limits on limited jobs. Sounds like Blue Mage next patch is getting even less content.

Apparently no content for blue mage because beastmaster needed it. Kind of confirms to me they should have just partially reworked blue mage so yes it can do its wacky things in all blue parties or by itself, but for normal content its more reasonable. Give the job like the ability to go from 80 to 100, do some job quests involving whalaqee so the player feels like they are fully learning how to utilize their magic as they also get to learn spells as quest rewards for going on "sacred hunts". Basically unleashing that as a third "normal" job along side pictomancer and viper. Then come back later and give it the ability to learn spells from endwalker and dawntrail.

They actively showed removing BLU from the roster of classes in one shot. Hue hue hue

I stopped playing FFXIV at the beginning of Endwalker and returned within the last couple of months because I was burned out on Destiny 2 (and it's content fell off a cliff). I messed with Blue Mage a bit before leaving but upon returning it's the class I am having by far the most fun with! I feel like I missed out though because I don't see a lot of Party Finder groups doing all BLU dungeon/raid runs to collect spells. I managed to get 101 on my own but really want that Morbol mount....anyway, any new BLU content would be great, and I love that I still have Masked Carnival to get through....I love all the attention BLU is getting now, but I'm also conflicted. BLU never had this many fans before?
A popular raid like The Arcadion would get 1500 likes and 500 dislikes, if it was universally praised. Something that bombs like OC and FT would get 4000 dislikes. But the discussion around BLU has always been 5 people saying they enjoy it, 50 people saying it needs better rewards, and 1 jerk saying that the budget is better spent on whatever they care about. In some ways, getting 4000 dislikes like the OC is a better fate.
Bad news: the BLU update is delayed for so long it is effectively cancelled
Good news: apparently the community loves BLU now and is on my side?????
Another possible explanation is that Blue Mages, who have been trained to sleep for 2 years, are just waking up right around now.
