Overall my suggestion is increase the time it takes to kill something, make them harder, and increase the SP per kill to balance for the increased time it takes to kill. Groups that take the time to work together will kill faster and in turn be rewarded more SP/HR. Rewarding sp for skill instead of just being a mindless zerg.
You know you can always raise the stars over your cap? Sure you won't get more SP because it's already capped, but you get the challenge you want. A 5 star Dunesfolk Mongrel is deadly even with a bunch of r50 peeps, even though there isn't any more SP gain compared to 4 star because they're already capped. But hey you want challenge right?
