Possible fix for older nvidia cards.

Newer 582.28 driver was causing game to crash after the launcher, reinstalled old 581.80 driver after running DDU and was back up and running on my 1080. Guessing it's related to nvidia retiring maxwell, pascal, and volta cards. To anyone experiencing issues since mid January, hopefully this helps.

I can confirm this is happening as well. I was having no problems logging into FFXIV with the 581.15 driver, but after updating to the 582.28 driver I can no longer enter the game. Hitting play on the launcher closes the launcher and then the game never launches. I wish I could provide an error code, but none is given. The launcher simply closes normally as if the game is about to load, but then it never does.

The 582.28 driver contains security fixes and is the last driver available for maxwell, pascal, and volta cards, so we're stuck with either not playing FFXIV or not having the security fixes Nvidia put out for these cards. Reverting back to driver version 581.15 allowed the game to load normally again, but obviously that's not optimal. Given that Nvidia has ceased support for these cards and doesn't appear to be planning additional driver updates for them I doubt they'll be addressing this issue on their end.
