You can start picking up Grade 5 leves at 35, and you get the detect ability at 38. You can move up whenever you feel comfortable.

^ that. In terms of just grinding on grade 5, you can start as low as 33-34. I think i started at 34. Anything below that range your # of attempts will probably be way too low for it to be worth running around looking.
