Launcher/Account/Forum Login Issues Via Optus (Australian ISP)

Hello I've facing a bit of a odd problem, I am needing at the moment to turn on a VPN in order to login. It's not 100% of the time but it is often. I am aware of the Launcher Related issues for EU region master thread and as a Australian player playing on a Japanese Server I am unsure if my login is going through the EU services. However the issue has seemingly expanded to not just the launcher hence this thread

I need the VPN to login here to the Forums/Lodestone, to Login to the Mogstation and the Online Store. Any front end that interacts with Login Services when the issue is occurring requires me to use a VPN, in addition to the Launcher needing a VPN

Once I am logged in however, I can turn off the VPN and everything functions as normal. So I'm an Australian player who plays on Elemental JP (Account existed before OCE, do not wish to transfer), whose needing a VPN to login to with any of my account services/forums and to play. But once I am logged in I am okay to turn off the VPN.

So the issue is clearly via my ISP and wherever the login services for my account are hosted, as once I am *past* these login services I no longer need a VPN, so there isn't an issue with connecting to the website/game itself. It is JUST the login services.

Please try the following troubleshooting suggestions as it may help resolve the issue:

Open the control panel of the PC and go to ‘Network and Internet’. Once there select ‘Internet Options’
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
    - Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
    - Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
    - Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"
*Make sure your fire wall or antivirus program is not interfering with the game

Check to see if the following port ranges are opened on your router. You can contact your ISP and request they open them for you
    ▼TCP
    54992 through 54994,
    55006 through 55007,
    55021 through 55040

    - Try disabling background applications and do a clean boot by opening the task manager and selecting the “Start up” tab. Disable everything and then restart the PC.
    - Lastly, we suggest to power cycle the device and router by shutting down the Router and leaving the power supply unplugged for 5-10 minutes.

    - Flush DNS: Within the "Command Prompt" of the device, please type the command "ipconfig /flushdns".
    - Reset TCP/IP: Also within the Command Prompt, type the command "netsh int ip reset" and then restart the computer.
    - Change local DNS: Please try changing the local DNS server to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
    - Delete local files with corrupted character data, please note this will not delete the associated characters.

These fixes did not work. Further research online has turned up the following info from other users

"So putting this in as a separate comment, but after multiple calls with Optus support they confirmed that due to the IP configuration of the launcher and websites they had placed a block on access. They have removed the block(for me) and I have not had the issue in the last 48 hrs. I will continue to monitor but if anyone is have this problem call Optus and tell them to remove the block"

    and

"Talking to Optus literally right now and they are saying Square-enix / FFXIV websites and game log ins are banned by Optus as of December 2025"

So while I shall be contacting my ISP to resolve this directly I would appreciate if someone at Square Enix could ya know....resolve why their entire login services have being banned/blocked by one of Australias 2 largest ISPs
