I cannot finnish a main quest

    Hi,
my problem is that I cannot finnish a main quest, because nobody is in queue.
I already changed the settings and choosed every language.
This dungeon can not be done with NPCs sadly.
Anyone else having this issue who started the game as a new player?
Is there something I can do? I play the game on my own and I do not want to join a guild or similar alike.
Is there a server that is very alive with lots of people and they do any kind of dungeon?
I am playing a war Lvl 75 and I think the quest in English is called "The Trial: Leviathan"?
Sorry for my bad english, its not my main language.
    Regards

There are 5 things to try. I will list them all, even though you likely have tried one or two of them.

    1. Try queing during your servers prime play hours. Cerberus is one of the EU data centers, so this would be evening time in europe(on a friday or saturday if possible).

    2. Try activating more languages for auto-matching purposes. This doesnt help much on the NA servers, but players on JP servers get much better match odds if japanese is selected as an option. For the EU servers, selecting french and german along with english can provide a similar boost.

    3. From everything ive heard, Light is the more active data center for EU players. Cerberus happens to be on the Chaos DC instead. So if you were to DC visit a server on Light(it doesnt matter which server, just the DC matters) you might have better luck.

    4. If you are in the Novice Network(NN for short) for your server, ask for help there. The NN is a chat channel for new players and mentors. The idea was for it to be a place newer players could ask for help with in game issues(problems, dungeon running, etc). Every server has its own NN, and the personality and culture can vary greatly from one to the next so i make no guess as to the shape of the one on Cerberus. But asking for help there might get you going in no time. If you arent a member of this chat channel and would like to be, heading to Limsa/Gridania/Ul Dah and /shouting to ask for an invite usually works.

    5. You could put up a Party Finder listing. Party Finder(PF for short) is an in-game tool separate from the Duty Finder. Duty Finder tries to grab you random people interested in running the content you need. On the other hand, PF allows you to put up a searchable group for any content you wish to do in game. Essentially you tell the game what kind of group you want, and it forms an open group that anyone can join. Meanwhile, it puts your group on the in-game list of groups for everyone to see. Other people who need to do the same fight, more experienced people who like to help newer players, bored players who just want to do something... really, anyone can join. So you would tell the game you want to run the leviathan fight(picking it from the list of trials), you have space to write a short description(new player needs help to advance story - or whatever other description you want really), then you form the open group and see who comes. As they join you can chat with them. At any time you can go back into the PF tool and stop recruiting new players. You can wait until the group is 100% full and then go into the fight, or you can close recruiting once you have a few players and then hit the random que for the rest of the party(the more people you have, the quicker you should get a fill).

Well... there is a 6th way too. All of the above includes doing the fight normally. If you only care about getting through the fight, and dont care about doing it normally then the last option is the unsync'd party option. Selecting this option lets you do a fight with less then a full party, and using your full levels rather then being forced down to the level of the fight. This would mean you going into the level 50 leviathan fight as a level 75 warrior. If your gear is high enough, you might be able to solo the fight at that level. If you can find one high level person to help, you for sure can do it(honestly it might be soloable by a fully geared level 70, but for sure people 80+ with sufficient gear would manage).

    Good luck!

Thank you a lot for the tips.
"Novice Network" is this just a chat or how does it work exactly? If I queue for a dungeon and I am in Chaos (Cerberus) and not on a Light server, I can not play with them, right? Even when both are EU servers.

So yes, Novice Network is a chat channel. To use that chat channel you either need to qualify for Mentor status, or be a new player and have a mentor invite you. The easiest way is typically to go to Limsa and ask in /shout chat, theres usually a Mentor or two in town who can toss you an invite right away. From there, you would see it and use it like any other chat option.

So when you que for a dungeon on Cerberus, you are put in with all the other players on Chaos who are currently looking to do a dungeon and the system sorts and does matchmaking from there. However, they have added the ability to temporarily send your character to other worlds. You have the option to visit any server on Chaos, any server on Light, and if you wanted to any server on the Oceania DC(this happens to be one of the least populated ones, and thus they have given everyone worldwide the ability to visit here). If you decide you want to try the Light DC for a bit, this is what you do. Log into the game, but not your character. From the character select screen right click on the character you want to play, and the contextual menu should give the "Visit Another Data Center" option. From there click on any server on the Light DC. The system will send your data across which can take a minute or so(longer during busy periods), then it gives you a message saying you were successfully sent. Now when you log in to the character, you'll be sitting by the aetheryte in one of the starting cities. You get the temporary <Traveler> title, and you are free to move about and play. You can do most things while server traveling, but a few are locked if you arent on your home server. The big ones i remember are that you cant access your retainers until you go home, and you cant access crafting instances(not a concern at your level). You also wouldnt have access to any FC or LS chat channels you had joined. When you want to return to your home server, you do a very similar set of steps. From the character select screen you right click, but this time you pick the "Return Home" option, and it will send your character back to your native server. Any changes are saved(if you got gear from a quest or bought something on the market board for instance, along with any quests you progressed) and you continue onward from wherever you stopped.

As for the unsync'd option, i listed it last and separately because for some people it takes them out of the narrative. You need to fight Leviathan. The story presents this as a big dangerous important fight. A full group of level 50s take around 10 minutes to do the fight. There are several dangerous attacks, there are strategies to learn and employ. You CAN fail and have to go again. For all intents and purposes its a story beat that is supposed to mean something. A fully geared level 100 player can beat a level 50 story boss like that in just a few hits. Depending on the script of the fight you might see 2 or 3 attacks that are forced to happen before the boss can die. On some fights the boss dies before the script can even engage. So for some people this disconnect can be too much. NPCs go on and on about a threat, you watch someone else defeat said threat in 2 hits, then afterwards they praise you for saving the day and being the mighty hero. If this isnt something that would bother you/you really do want to try it out, the option for this one is on the Duty Finder interface. When you open the DF, there should be a small button with a gear-like symbol on it in the upper right corner. In the menu that opens you see the options to make the duties easier(unsynced party), and harder(enforce minimum item level, silence echo), and the one primarily used by Blue Mages(level sync - used with the unsynced party this lets you do on-level fights with the synced down levels but with less then a full group). Any changes you make in that menu stay until you log out, or change them back. Note that setting unsync will lock out any roulettes, as those can only be done using level sync. And since the idea is that youre going with your party as is, levels and all, it also doesnt make any attempts to match-make you. Selecting unsync will always toss you straight into whatever instance you are trying to run with the current party(or lack thereof).

Any other questions i missed, feel free to ask and im sure the answer will come.

And raids like The Final Steps of Faith, where according to the story you are going against the enemy alone, don't take you out of the narrative when you instead gang up on it with seven others?

I never specified either way how i feel about it. I said it bothered some people. That is a statement of fact. In all honesty neither bothers me personally, but ive also never really had a problem just queing to do content either.

    Definitely agree with Frizze.

And in terms of point #5 - Party Finder can be a good option. There are players who actively check PF for Sprouts asking for assistance with MSQ content 'first time' runs and will gladly join to help.
I do so frequently - at least when it's content I am confident I can be helpful!
