Taking Gridania's lack of a native tank and a bit of creativity from some more aggressive Padjal, White magic is paired with Black magic through two dowsing rods. One rod handling earth, wind and water, the other ice, lightning and fire. Think pairing wind and fire for a firestorm AoE attack, or earth and ice to make a giant glacial wall for a tank LB3, instead of Red mage's use of them separately.

More MP dependent than other tanks. Tank stance adds healing and enmity to weaponskills (White Phase) but gives increased MP regen without it (Black Phase) giving the stance button a little use outside of tank swaps.
