Sightseeing - Please bring back some like ARR

I get that the sighseeing from ARR it's not for everyone.

But it was fun. For the people who enjoy to explore, solve riddle and do jumping puzzle, it would be very nice to have back sightseeing taht requiere special combinaison of weather, hard location to reach, and not just do "lookout" emote like it have been in HW, SB, ShB, EW and DT.

Right now, they are kind of boring.

Actually, a number of sightseeing vistas after ARR do have specific requirements to attain other than just 'do the emote on the visible spot' (the one on top of the lampost in Kugane requiring a convoluted jumping puzzle to reach springs to mind, then there's the one inside the Crystarium on top of a tent that also requires a specialized and well timed jump to reach, and that one in the Ruby Sea that although is easy to reach has a very very brief window at only 6am each morning in only clear or fair weather where you have to face the rising sun).

So the harder ARR style ones still exist in the expansions, all that's changed is they're now easier to spot and the harder ones with tighter requirements are more few, but they are there.

Well I just cleared the DT one because I never did them before and they felt boring.

They should remove the bubble that show that a sightseeing is there. It's more fun to look for them than having everything given.

I also didn't found any jumping puzzle, or special weather (or I was just lucky?)

ARR one wasn't visible with that huge bubble, and I remember that many were hard to reach, which is part of the fun hunting for them

I would be willing to deal without the visible glowing spots and having to do emotes other than /lookout... But I don't want the whole system of needing to be at a place at the correct time of day during the correct weather.

Not everything needs to be braindead either. Some people enjoy puzzles and riddle.

ARR sightseeing are not for everyone, and it's perfectly fine like that. Savage and ultimate is not for everyone too.

My take on Sightseeing Log is, it's not meant to be challenging, it is meant to guide the player around to landmarks on the maps, sometimes those landmarks are in challenging spots, see: Kugane Tower, and it is an opportunity for the devs to put a jumping puzzle into the game, but the main point is that the sight from up there is pretty cool.

The main problem with ARR logs is that they aren't truly challenging, at least to most, people will just look it up and look up when it will be available, which turns the whole process into just waiting, hardly the most thrilling experience.

The lack of bubble worked for ARR because the maps were a lot more compact and points of interest would quickly become familiar.
Newer maps have way too much space and places to step on to force players to do an invisible tile hunt.

The easy fix to that is having the hints be more descriptive/less cryptic and making the vista larger. Even if it were super easy it'd still be more engaging than what we have now.

I don't miss the weather/time combinations. Some of those were rare and difficult to get if you couldn't be online at the exact 3 minute window that only occurred once or twice a month.

I do miss the vista descriptions that gave us the chance to puzzle out where the vista was and what emote to use on our own if we wanted. I had figured out quite a few of the ARR spots before I finally had to break down and start using online resources to find the rest.

Those that don't want to figure them out can go straight to the online resources.

And Blue Mage turned it back into casual content. I've taken friends (and the occasional stranger) up Kugane Tower several times now, not to mention all the rezzing straight to the lamppost.

I won't say it renders getting the other points pointless. It's only pointless if your only goal was to unlock the paintings, in which case it was pointless to start in the first place. You can always get a friend who has completed the sightseeing logs to buy any paintings you want for you.

Whether someone finds them challenging or not, figuring out vistas on your own can be fun depending on what you personally think is fun. Not everyone wants the answers fed to them via an online website or YouTube video.
