    Tranferring Character Appearance Data

So, I recently upgraded from PS4 to PS5 and I was able to transfer my system settings and character settings, however the Character Appearance Save Data didn't transfer with either of these.
To avoid confusion when I say Character Appearance Save Data I'm referring to the template players create that can be used to create characters and retainers without having to do character creation from scratch each time.
I keep these in case I ever want to change the appearance of one of my retainers or characters.

I was wondering if there is there an option to transfer this over directly or am I going to have to create extra characters/retainers for each of the ones I'm not using and do that to transfer it over indirectly.

And before you say it, yes, I know there is probably a way to do this on PC by going into the game files directly, but as I said I am on console so that doesn't help me.

I'm not sure if it'll work since I've never tried. But could you just buy a retainer fantasia off market board for like 1k, re-edit the retainer appearance and re-save how they look?

For active characters, you can right-click / press Square at the login screen to save their appearance.

For retainers, as Zotoh suggests, you can use a retainer Fantasia to start editing them, then use the save prompt that pops up when you've finished editing appearance. After that you can quit the process and do it again with another retainer, without needing another potion.

I fail to see how using a fantasia will solve my problem, the whole point of transferring the data is to be able to quickly switch a character's appearance after using a fantasia without having to spend time re-customizing the character. I can also use it do the same if I want to make a new character or retainer, without wasting time.

A retainer Fantasia is the only way to get your current retainers back into the editing mode, allowing you to save their current appearance. They are not the same thing as standard Fantasias; you can buy them off the marketboard. Use it and then speak to one of the retainer managers in major cities.

You will only need a single retainer Fantasia to do this for all of your retainers, as it is not consumed until you finalise the edit, and the appearance-saving step comes before that.

Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Have you tried the following steps:
Right-click your chosen character on the Character Selection screen and select Save Appearance Data from the subcommand menu.
This will open the Character Data Export window, from which you may select a save slot and add a comment to help differentiate your data before saving.

Saved appearance data can be utilized when editing or newly creating a character.

If you have previously saved character appearance data, a prompt will display when editing an existing character or when creating a new character.
Check the box and then select the slot from which you wish to load appearance data.
