Thread: The 7.41 Relics Not Having Customizable Stats is Disappointing

I haven't really seen it talked about much but relics released in 7.41 do not have customizable substats breaking the pattern they have had in place since Stormblood. I understand that it's likely that a vast majority of players don't really care about substats and this probably affects very few but at least for myself it's one of the things I look forward to the most each expac.

Customizable relics are fun for making unique builds and also messing with IL sync in certain duties. Even outside of using it for optimization it's really fun for making things like Skill Speed and Spell Speed builds.

Though putting that to the side, not having customizable substats did actually hurt one piece of content, Occult Crescent. Right now the best builds in OC all run Arcanaut +2 and the Occult Accessories. The problem with those pieces is they have 0 skill speed which means certain jobs, like SAM and MNK, are unable to reach optimal skill speed values. It's just incredibly disappointing.

Fully agree. We should be able to customize the stats following the ShB model. Most players will just fill the two biggest stats and put the remaining points on a third one like with the EW relics but having the option to tweak stats for older content is always an interesting feature that should not be removed from the game.

Bring back customizable stats on the relic a la ShB!

Interesting. I like a little skill speed in my Reaper gearset, and since none of the Bygone Brass set for Reaper has it I was counting on being able to get a little from the final relic stage. I sure hope they make the stats on the final stage customizable.

The very last step of the relic normally has adjustable stats. I don't remember if EW or SHB had more than one step with adjustable stats tbh.

Stormblood, Shadowbringers, and Endwalker all had customizable stats starting in X.45 which was the 2nd to last relic stage (the same stage as this relic).

Yea I don't remember its been so long since I had to do one. Kind of weird they didn't have them on this step this go around. Last step will likely have them and that's when it really matters imo.

Past relics didn't start off with customized stats, it's usually only the later steps.

Looking it up myself, they're at 775 apparently. So likely in 7.51, we're getting the next step which will actually be the second last, which will likely jump it to 790 with customized stats, basically becoming a better version of the upgraded tomestone weapons. Then sometime (maybe after) 7.55 we'll get the final step to take it to 795 to become the BiS weapon.

This logic does not follow previous expacs. I did actually do my research before making this post.

Endwalker's 6.45 relic was Majestic Manderville which is IL 645, the same IL as the EX (Golbez) released in 6.4, that relic did have stat customization.

Shadowbringer's had 2 relic steps in 5.45, the final step being Augmented Law's Order. Augmented Law's Order is IL 515, the same IL as the EX (Emerald Weapon) released in 5.4, that relic did have stat customization.

Finally, Stormblood's had 3 relic steps in 4.45, the final step being Pyros. Pyros is IL 385, the same IL as the EX (Suzaku) released in 4.4, that relic did have stat customization.

There is a pattern and this is the first time they have broken that pattern since Stormblood. This current relic is the same IL as the current EX and should have had the stat customization the last 3 expacs had.
