I thought about this matter and i think it'll be interesting, the movement im talking about is (walking speed) movement and not running, and it can be cancelled by the jump button.
Making it cancellable via Jump helps a fair bit, but you still then have the problem of being locked out of any new cast until again grounded (about a full second).

Honestly, I'd rather this be used only on a single job I can then avoid accordingly or to see additional options --such as having to hold the cast or clicking a new cast with more than .5s left on cast cancelling the current cast and starting the new one instead, etc.-- added to finely tweak how it feels to play.

I do not agree with the idea that casters should be able to move whilst casting, however, I do not see a reason why this concept couldn't be used for a new physical ranged job.

And, just to clarify something here:

When you cancel a cast with jump, you do not actually jump, it just stops the cast and lets you act right away, similar to if you press esc on a keyboard to cancel a cast.

On controller or something? I can guarantee you that jumping on keyboard is making my character jump when cancelling casts.

Like I'm doing it ingame right now...

It might be a difference in controller vs. keyboard that I wasn't aware of. On controller, you can press jump mid cast and it does cancel it, both on walking and stationary casts.
