    14 really needs more open-world content that actually matters

    FFXIV really needs more open-world content that actually matters, especially content that gives different areas a reason to exist beyond the MSQ.

    Right now, weekly tomestone farming is almost entirely queue-based (aside from hunt trains). It would be nice to have real, non-queue options in the open world, like better FATE systems or regional activities that actually count toward your weekly cap. Zones shouldn’t feel like places you run through once and never come back to. I would love to wait for my duty finder to fill while working towards my weekly cap.

    Leveling could also use more open-world options too. Not everyone wants to spam dungeons and roulettes all the time, and having other viable ways to level would add a lot of variety.

    If the concern is dungeon queue times for story progression, Square has already been pushing Trusts hard and making them more accessible. That should be directly supporting older systems, not limiting new ones. Open-world progression wouldn’t replace dungeons, it would just give players more choice. Trusts handle access, open-world content handles engagement. A cool addition would be letting players queue for a dungeon and, if the wait goes over five minutes, giving them a pop-up option to switch to a Trust run (if a major concern is queue times in dungeons for msq progression)

    What are things that make content "matter" to you?

    It's not going to help for them to add content if that content isn't delivering what you expect to get. Criterion dungeons at release are a good example of that problem.

    They made hunt zerg fests, they cut leves, and moved FATE farming (with more interesting FATES) to Field Operations when they could've used the very empty regions they have. Grand Company content was also abandoned when it could've been nice to get your squadron out in the open world.

    Tweaking the challenge log would be a small step towards this. For instance, if the FATE section of it rewarded bicolor gemstones when completing its steps, more players would be inclined to do some FATEs per week, and so the open world would be engaged with more.

    If you read ops post or played the game you'd see he clearly listed tome farming aka an endgame gear farming method. Currently the most efficient farm is spamming expert roulette highest dungeon. That's boring and garbage. Im sorry you were to dismissive to read ops valid point.

    Also we op was not asking for something ad difficult and unrewarding as criterion. We want casual friendly open world content that have good tome drops so we have options outside dungeon spam. Rewards should also go beyond tomes and give exp, minions mounts titles etc. Like op said the open world zones outside fates only exist for the msq which is such a waste.

    We also need bicolor gemstones and vendors in pre shadowbringers zones. Make the vendors giveaway level monster mats. Old gorgeous zones like churning mist should be a viable place for me to do some time and gem farming.
