Question: Would You Play In A Realm Reborn Reborn? Or A Classic ARR Server?

As I posted with my question, it has been nearly 13 years since we first got ARR...would you play in a ARR Classic server capped at 50 again? Would you go back to the old days where Titan was the main primal, everyone wore Darklight Gear, and Coil was the raid content of the time? Would you go back and farm fates as the main way to powerlevel? My curiosity wants to know!

I guess it's my fate as a Dark Knight. Soon, I won't even feel any remorse for my actions!-Cecil Harvey-FFIV DRK

The quality of life we have now is so much better. It would be really hard to play it because of that. It's hard to remember just how bad it was in comparison, but if you went back there were so many annoying things that got improved over time. There are still many things they need to improve now that are annoying, but it was so much worse then - like waiting 7 minutes for Hallowed Ground to come off cooldown so you can pull. You had to make your own countdown macros and level lots of other jobs just to get actions you need! How about the Recommended Gear button we now have?

I might do it to do coils or other old raids again, but I might not because I actually did them right after ARR and had to learn all of their mechanics in 130 gear, and want to focus on the future. I've done them again many times, including as a Blue Mage, as well.

It might be enticing to do Heavensward again. I am genuinely curious if people would still get walled on A1S-A4S. I don't think they would. I think it had a lot to do with the lack of cross-world PF, uneven population distribution and the smaller game population at the time. I think people would struggle about as much as they do with current PF - largely depending on who they are in a party with.

Another reason to want to do anything up to Stormblood again is simply the dungeons being less boring because of the Holy Trinity being better. That might be about the most enticing thing about it. Actually relying on the healer as a tank, being able to use the environment in certain ways and skill expression feeling better.

No, or at least I wouldn't play there long term.

I think it would have value in a "see what it was like" sense, get context, but I highly doubt I would stay there long term, and just leave once the novelty wore off, or until they progressed into HW/StB/ShB.

No, I wouldn't. QoL changes have helped the game significantly.

SE would be better off adding a level lock option to the game for players that want to remain capped at 50 than creating ARR Classic servers.

I started in 3.0 or 4.0 (not sure), so I never got to experience that real 1.0 feeling.
Depending on the price i would definitely try out a 1.0 classic server, only to see if it's really as bad as I always heard

Lots of "You think you do but you don't" energy in here. It'll never happen though because certain actors actively want to memoryhole how fun the game played before they RUINED it. Also it would be extremely bad if people experienced the ARR patch cycle. They would have twice as much to do in ARR Classic endgame as they would in Dawntrail. You don't want the frogs to realize they've been boiling all this time.

I would yes, even with the amount of QoL that would be missing... Simply because for how I play the game would have more to offer, ultimately... Plus, in some instances the QoL that we have these days has gutted some of the charm and character out of the game, especially as far as actually being an MMO goes. (Not saying all QoL, but certainly a good amount)

Currently the game as it stands, if you do not raid, then you don't really have a reason to actually actively engage... Like, the game now is more akin to... Let's watch Netflix and have FFXIV on the side, as opposed to being FFXIV being the sole focus at that given time.

No. Glamour was incredibly limited, cumbersome and used way too many items.

That's literally the only thing I have to remember for a hard "pass."

Eh... no thanks, I doubt it's even half as great as some people glaze it to be, and there's some things about it I know I would downright hate dealing with (like TP and weapon damage types).

If they want to tack something like that on with the main sub, go ahead I guess, but I would never step foot in there, and I would wonder if the game could really afford to be splitting it's already low population between two very different versions of the game.
