Actually you are wrong. This thread is moot considering the poll was in favour of removing physical levels and auto allocation of stats.
Moaning about the out come won't change the result.
Of course if you didn't have the piece of gear in FF11 whos fault was that ?
Its the same for any MMO, for example if you don't have enough spirit in WoW as a healer people won't want you, same if you are a Mage with low Spellpower.
The poll was in favor of the removal of the physical level with being able to ASSIGN points for every class. There was 2 other options of which one was what you mentioned, but that was not the most popular.
Question 8*
The bonus point allotment system was intended to be a means by which players could customize their character's individuality. The free distribution of attribute points has given rise to certain problems, however, such as compatibility issues with the Armoury system, and the lowered effectiveness of the attributes themselves. In particular, this lowered effectiveness of attributes also extends its influence to items, and is therefore something that we feel must be rectified. To do so, we are currently looking into the following two options:
1. Removal of the bonus point system, and the addition of automatic allotment of attribute points based on class
2. Removal of physical levels, and the addition of class-specific allotment of attribute points for each class based on rank.
Would you prefer option 1, option 2, or the current system? *
Option 1. 84
29%
Option 2. 167
57%
The current system. 41
14%

Short: I like the stat system closer to the way it is now. But I believe Cairdeas proposed a system I also liked.
Long: For option 2, the counter balance to this would be able to reallocate stats for the Discipline. So Disciples of War, Magic, Land, and Hand have independent stats. And someone who specializes as a damage dealer in War would not be an optimal tank. Or someone who specializes as a Weaver would not be an optimal Blacksmith. And in this way, there is still a good reason to want to reallocate stats. Rather than having the best of both worlds and always having optimal stats regardless of crafter.
I prefer the idea that the skills you have equip establish your stats, Ala Blue Mage from XI.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
There was only one time, for me , that I wasn't allowed to join a group. What I meant was other players I did group with were booted like Drks not having a haubergeon, back in the day. Sorry I should have been more specific there. This thread is moot considering the poll was in favour of removing physical levels and auto allocation of stats.

I don't know if your earlier post was directed at me saying was I stabbing something as RDM with an en-spell. No sir I was never a rdm, I was a Pld, also drg. I was decently equipped.
And it's not always the same. I didn't have any good gear in Everquest online adventures. On my wizard I made up my lack of gear for my stats. They had finally rebuffed wizards to be less resistant have 1 second cast/ 1 second recast. I ruined a raid, by accident, by everyone being solo and one kill group. My guild helped out the best guild on our server. So they had the best geared people with 2 DD necromancers. I got the kill.
So that's why I prefer to have stats over gear.
But, I'm never wrong !
Im happy with self alloted points or auto alloted points, I think auto alloted would solve a lot of issue with gimp set ups.
Infact most end game LS will expect players to have certain builds anyway, which is no different than them expecting them to have certain gear.
Ideally the dev team will allow us to have 2 specs per class similar to WoW though.

I am in favor of significant racial adjustments on attributes
I am in favor of class adjustments on attributes
I am in favor of waaaaaaaay less points per physical level (or cut physical level advancement pace by 1/10th)
I am strongly against customization outweighing effects from gear
