Yeah, that's right - there is none.

This is a great example I just took the time to capture of failure months into what was supposed to be a working term filter for chat channels.

Being a case sensitive filter is just flat out stupid. I mean, really stupid. If I wanted to get around them, to further shout out in that I want to advertise yet another night club, there's so many combinations of terms that could be used just one one word. Such an example: 'giveaway'.

I can think of about 16 different ways around just filtering that word, because of the idiotic case sensitive nature of a term filter in this game.

The dev team really needs to work a little bit better here on the poor execution of this idea. Great idea, poor execution.

I found it more effective to block the part of the word that comes after, ignoring the first letter entirely, in order to avoid case-sensitivity issues. Or at least, it seems to catch and block more stuff for me.

Someone can certainly try to work around that, but that just uarantees they get sent to the mute list instead for purposefully trying to circumvent the filter.

Excellent idea, it would probably catch more. Of course, if they would let us use two letters, I could probably just filter out 'DJ' and 95% of the shouts would be gone.

Term filter is another sign they still want to move in the wrong direction.
Finding way to save themselves from making the effort.
Dumping responsibility on their playerbase instead.
With a term filter they don't have to deal with RMT messages anymore. (Let the rmters do their thing)
With a term filter they don't have to have GMs who can understand and deal with the users issuing toxic interactions.
They can just blame the users for not tackling it themselves with a filter.

I don't want to know the answer because it dismays me that the answer will be the former.
I can't be bothered to explain why the former is so bad. Its about non personal posts vs personal chatmessages. Different problems needing different solutions.

Are these the same people that solved stalking by sending character lists to the client? (I haven't heard that's fixed. Last I heard its just laughably encoded. Which if it's not fixed then right now there are people with the tools to exploit it, and the will be using them)

Lol, that's a sacrifice I'm willing to take in order to block out shout spammers, since they're just annoying otherwise.

It blocks out the entire message. However, by default the system will replace the blocked message with a "this message was blocked" note in the chat, but you can turn that off as well.

I hope whoever came up with this brilliant idea does not mention it in their resume - might make their further work life a bit complicated.

For an 8 letter word there are 256 different combinations of lower/upper case. Not taking into account the inverted letters, or leet speak (g1ve4w4y or w/e).

It's like this with every feature. Everything is saved locally but you get barely any space, modders give us effectively infinite storage, CS3 eventually gives a more usable amount. Rinse and repeat. We used to only have 5 savable waymarkers! It wasn't enough for a single patch's content.
