Running out of things to do while waiting for Duty Finder :(

So I find myself at a point where I'm still working on leveling a good number of jobs (which is nice because at least I still have content to explore in that respect), but in terms of non-instanced content I'm running out...

• I've effectively concluded the Island Getaway as it's about to reach level cap and all buildings are maxed

• I've maxed out Blue Mage to level 80

• I've completed all side-quests in all locations of the game

Now ok yes I know there are things like Fate farming to complete the Shared Fate list, or possibly running some daily/weekly timed content like deliveries, Hunts, Society quests if you still have those to do, and so on. Problem is, that stuff is pretty low priority and doesn't offer much return, not to mention the gameplay is hyper-repetitive. I now, I know, the gameplay in general is hyper-repetitive but this stuff feels even worse XD

What I've been using as the "filler" for a while now has been working on the Cosmic tools, but even there I'm running out of time as I've so far completed 9/11 of them.

What do y'all veterans actually DO during the downtime while you wait for DF to do its thing, or worse yet while waiting for PF to find an appropriate group of people???

Cosmic Exploration, crafting/gathering, hunts, sorting gear, dumping tomestones and selling things on MB, actual social interaction in the game or on Discord, and if nothing else then I just tab out and watch 10 minute YouTube videos in my feed, Netflix or Amazon Prime.

I don't like doing fates because duty will pop in the middle of the fate and then I will lose the progress. Kinda annoying for fates that take longer when you do them solo.

Most of the time I just tab out.

I'm not a crafter, even though I've maxed some craft jobs and levelled most up to level 60, hell if when I get all of them to max level, I know myself enough that I won't ever use crafting to farm gil.

So, my main thing is farming gil through combat.
There are a few ways to achieve that by doing stuff that rewards a currency and selling what this particular currency gets you exclusively. So, we got:

- FATEs
- Bozja
- Occult Crescent
- Variant Dungeons
- Deep Dungeons
- Khloe

...And that's it.
There really should have more ways than just these ones.

I have a similar problem to the OP. While I’m waiting for queue pop I:

- Do minor crafts, less than 12 or so steps, so I have time to finish if the queue pops in the middle of crafting
- Do FATEs, there’s still a little bit of bicolor gemstone stuff I want
- Gather minerals/plants, if there are any I need
- Do hunts, there are plenty of things purchased with hunt currencies I want because I ignored hunts for years

These aren’t the most exciting things to do, but they’re something anyway. I do feel the lack of interesting/engaging things to do, though, especially because I have to stay ready to respond to queue pop within 45 seconds.

I like how the most common answer to my OP was something along the lines of "do something else outside of the game" O.o .. I feel like that shouldn't be the solution XD
That said I don't disagree, and I guess I'll need to do just that, find something to keep up on the side while I'm waiting on DF. I do have a dual-screen setup so it's viable. In any case thanks for the responses y'all, interesting to hear what everyone put up as their own solution

There's also treasure hunting, which is how I make 90% of my gil. Though the endgame ones require a group and the old ones, while solo'able and quite profitable are an absolute joke when it comes to difficulty. I think they should make a new type of endgame treasure maps designed to be solo'd, that would go a long way towards giving me comfortable repeatable battle content during my downtime.

Doing the dungeons used to be my go to for fun and pleasure but ever since it went from 3 to 2 to 1 to current MSQ only…

Yea, doesn’t help that we are firmly back into a casual player content drought as the OC has not been updated in nearly a year.

I think they went way too hard on the crafting and gathering this go around, t got boring fast, especially if you were not there for the big progression pushes.

Once I stopped raiding to raise a family, gear no longer became a thing I needed and I discovered how little there is left to do if you do not want to grind gear.

Previous expansions allowed us to grind fo glamours but there has hardly been any of that in DT.

Endless DDOS attacks doesn’t let me play anything more serious than a fate as you loose your progress on anything else.

So, I check in to keep my house, take another shot of copium for 8.0 and remember better days while I play another game.

I miss ffxiv… but when I log in, I look around, see an empty FC, empty LSs, sigh and then log out.
