The trouble with behests

I don't know how behests in 2.0 will work, but at the moment, behest difficulty is scaled by how many people join and what level they join at.

This seems like no problem...

Except that lately, every behest I try at any camp eventually has SOME level 50 show up and join, and then not even participate (and if they do participate, they one-shot all the mobs and waste all the xp), causing it to become too difficult for me on the class I intended to use during the behest.

I'm not entirely sure what can be done about it, but if anything can, it would be extremely helpful

Yea. Everyone is trying to get those achievements so they're hitting all the behests. When I do it as a lower level character, most of those higher level characters let me hit it once before they waste it, thereby guaranteeing that you'll get the exp.

I've never seen anyone sit it out before.

I've had this problem before like a level 50 joining a behest at Camp Drybone. They really need to implement a sort of level cap to join these. It's a very annoying problem I don't see why it happens.

I thought about a level cap also, but that may prevent some people from getting the achievements if they make new ones for it in 2.0. But if they don't make achievements for 2.0 behests, then definitely, there should be a level cap. Otherwise I'm not sure.

At the moment they can't implement a level cap without restricting people from getting the achievements. If you could bring down a players level to the behest level then sure but with 2.0 around the corner that won't happen either. Most level 50's will wait for you to hit the mob first unless they are a douche.

I've never had the pleasure of a 50 letting me claim in fact I had one chocobo in front of me just to claim the mob before I could. I guess I am slightly bitter. You can't blame me.

Yeah, that's exactly the kind of people I've had. I kept getting claim during one, and the person changed from melee to BLM just so they could oneshot stuff before I could reach it.

And the latest guy stood around and waited for me to die (because the difficulty was way too high after he joined), and then went and killed everything before I could make it back.
