If by 'legitimate discussion thread' you mean 'beating the leveling speed dead horse', then no. No, it's not. This has been discussed to death and the things being said here are the same ones that have been said in every other thread about time it takes to level, with at least two of those threads started by Trollkien, here.

Lol, you've brain washed them into mini Rokiens and they don't even know. Good points you bring up btw.

30 hours of what is in essence a solo play tutorial before you get into the meat of party play does seem quite strange for an MMO. Its stranger still when V2 is supposed to be more MMO mainstream where other gamers can just jump in and play.

I recall my first 11 or 12 levels in FF11 wondering around Bastok and Gustaberg. Coupled with the depressing music it was too damn lonely and with so many npcs and quests to do I just felt lost. Granted I needed some of that time to get accustomed to the mechanics and infrastructure, macros etc but definitely not 30 hours.

After a week of playing on and off, getting my first random party invite to meet up at Konstat Highlands where we then killed everything on route to Vulkurm Dunes was one of my most fun experiences in 11 in over half a decade of playing.

Then again, if the 30 hours means a heckload of missions and is unique to each nation, I'd probably roll some alts to experience all that.

I'm hoping that this 30 hours for 1-15 is for the first class only, and it is made shorter for the rest of the classes. It's great to explore and mess around with your first class, not really caring how long it takes to level up because you're having so much fun, but when you start other classes, it tends to get boring since you've already done it before, even if it was on a different class.

I would be ok with half the time, in ffxi I found my first class took forever but the next classes took shorter time because of gil. i had money and didn't have to go farming and what not, also I knew what I was doing. SO, if they keeep it the same the same but with your experience and knowledge already lowering it down the time it takes to level, that would be even better. Though I wouldn't complain if the game itself made it shorter. I guess we will see.

Of course is speculation, do you just not wanna talk about anything, if you don't wanna talk about the "speculation" I did ask how your week has been, you could respond to that. Of course best option is to wait and see, but as we talk about it, it also gives devs stuff to go off of and how we feel. SO always better to talk.

Some times I wonder about people and their time management.

Think of what you can accomplish in the real world in 30 hours.

Think about learning how to play FFXIV ARR in 30 hours.

Then explain why 1/5th of the leveling process should be equal to almost a week of full time work. I don't get it.

If they can manage to keep the pace moving via quests and other story related content it probably wont be that bad. Thinking back to older ff games getting to x place in the story generally takes a set amount of time and you generally arrive there at about x level. Assuming of course that you did not do extra grinding or rushed.

How ever I am of the opinion that the 30 hour's for level 15 is a wee bit overboard or hopefully just a bit hyperbolic.
