I'm hoping this marks a return to the ffxi-style of leveling, where you need well over a week to get a job to max level. I think 2 hour per level is a pretty good goal, meaning you need to spend 100 hours to get to 50. This would essentially be approx a month of play for a casual or 2 weeks of play for a hardcore.

I don't mind how long leveling up takes as long as:

    a) There's things to do along the way
    b) Level sync is implemented (although to be fair this might not be necessary with the ability to make multiple alts) and the high level members still get XP/spiritbond while under a level cap.
    c) You'll be able to long on for a reasonable amount of time and get a level no matter what. 1-2 hrs for a level while solo is reasonable.

Powerleveling is fine to have IMO but the "have the high level gather mobs and kick them from party" needs to get removed.

Well what I like is little things you have to do while leveling so you have to break away from grind to go do whatever. Also ya, powerleveling is fine, ffxi was perfect because the party still had to do work, but ya the kick them is terrible.

30 hours is not that much time, specially for the people I know spend life and a half in this game.

I don't know this fellow Rokien very well, but I have noticed all he posts is whines and complaints about very shallow and inconsequential things that people tend to get used to with time.

30 hours isn't a lot of time, but 1-15, what game takes 30 hours to get to level 15?

Also idk where I'm complaining here....

I read Yoshi's reply as saying that there will be a lot of tutorial elements built into these early levels to learn the class and that's why they will take longer than currently. As long as that is masked in an interesting story that could be a very good idea. As far as the pace of leveling in general, 1,5-2 hours per level is about what it takes to level today using leves, 8-12 leves per level and about 10 minutes each what with some traveling needed to get new ones, and that always felt like a reasonable pace to me.

30 hours for level for level 15 seems reasonable but I'd hope it would slow down after that.

If its too fast to hit 50 as it is now, then being such a short term goal it become's people's only purpose. The majority of content below 50 is ignored until reach the level cap. All of this content is then considered to be too easy and gives poor rewards when if it was done at the level intended, both would have been a lot more reasonable.

As most people then have level 50 jobs, any repeatable content is generally skipped in favour of focusing on more rewarding, higher level content; why would you repeat a dungeon for level 20 gear when you're going to be past it a few hours?

As such little content is added for lower levels, this can be discouraging to new players who see only a grind to the level cap awaiting them. On top of this, the level cap become swamped; with all content targeting the same people there are only a limited number of equipment slots people want to gather gear for and favoured pieces to go in them. Again, this results in a select few items and events being done giving the impression of limited content when its actually the players that aren't doing it. Those who do want to do it find it harder to find groups, making the issue worse.

I'd much rather see hitting the level cap as a more long term goal but ensure plenty of content with worthwhile rewards scattered among all levels. If you're going to be spending a longer period of time in a certain level range, you're more likely to want to be geared up for it. There's no reason why the sort of content usually designed for level 50 players can't be done for lower levels too.

During the GW2 beta, I joined a dungeon event; large number of players fighting their way through a dungeon, facing a worthy boss at the end. The dungeon was at level 5, the boss was level 8, yet if the numbers had been higher it could have seemed like an end game event in many MMOs.
