Get off your high horse. I've done speed runs, 16 minute runs and all that jazz. Just because someone dislikes it doesn't mean they are gimp and can't do it. It's stupid and has to go. It's not conducive to team-play with random people nor is it conducive for class balance. People should be rewarded for clearing content not blasting through it as quickly as possible. Again, get off your high-horse, you sound like a colossal prick which is not what this community needs at this point in time. We shouldn't ridicule people who may not have the time or ability to consistently get speed runs.

There are other ways to make the game challenging beyond speed runs. All this does is open up the game to be more accessible for people who want to do content but lack the time and ability to get a static run to do it with.

I played WoW for a bit during what many describe as the golden era of Launch/Burning Crusade and one of the best things about that game that I remember to this day was that I could grab a random group of people and tackle content relatively well with whatever classes the people were. Sure we couldn't accomplish it as fast as some of the elite groups but it was a great feeling being able to clear content with what was at hand. This indeed looks like it will be the case with 2.0. Sure certain Linkshells will aim to clear content as fast and as efficiently as possible which is great, but those who do not will not be punished for being a tad slower. It's common sense and good game design really.

Also, I would wager that the current trend of 'burnout' in 1.0 FFXIV is due to Speed Runs. Nothing in this game burns you out faster than grinding speed runs (except maybe Hamlet), day after day in AV/CC. Nothing.
