Having more than one character, what's the point?

With the new pricing system for 2.0, we're going to be able to have upwards to 8 characters on a single world. My question is what the point of having more than one character in a world would be, from a game play perspective. The character wouldn't keep any of the levels, meaning that all of your job levels will be dispersed between several characters which would lead to inconvenience right? The only benefits I can think of would be the different race (which I find a bit of a small incentive considering the sacrifice of the levels from your main) and as a mule I guess?
Just wondering what other people's thoughts were, are you going to make a secondary character? And why?

Storage. Lots and lots of storage...

I think it's been confirmed that at 2.0's launch you won't be able to change your nation, so I may play a couple characters long enough to experience the unique storylines for the nations and GCs.

Storage, trying out a new race, trying out a new country, playing with a friend on a different server, getting on an alt to avoid attention from whatever, etc. Tons of reasons why having more than one character is a goo idea.

I've separated my crafting and DoW/DoM into two characters.

Essentially i can craft/fish/mine etc. on one character and gain rested xp on my DoW/DoMs. I can also gain rested xp on my crafting jobs when i'm doing stuff with my LS.

Also, when i'm crafting. that's what i want to do. so my crafting character doesn't have an LS etc. so i'm less likely to be bothered while crafting etc.

But i hope that people dont twink that much then. i like the idea of players having just one alter ego ingame. not like "today i am Tidus and tomorrow i am yuna"

I will have at least three to play all the city storyline missions, but yeah I'll pretty much just be sticking with my current character. It really is pointless to focus on more than one character since they can all do everything. It is just nice to run around as a different race/gender every so often.

Just what Wolfie wrote. Actually I also like creating new characters and since there will be that new Creation Screen I am more excited about that xD
Hopefully we can choose between a few more costumization options like different hair and/or tattoos

Well more storage is the obvious reason, but other reasons include, wanting to play with a low-level friend if all your jobs are already maxed. Wanting to separate crafting or gathering from your main because of limited inventory space. Wanting to experience the story in a new town/grand company. Maybe having a purely 'hang around' character. Roleplay. I could go on.
