    Saracenet

The level 94 gatherer gear has some pieces that use saracenet cloth.

Saracenet cloth is made from saracenet.

Saracenet can only be gathered by a botanist of level 96.

Do we see the issue here? Did someone forget that 96 comes AFTER 94? Seriously, this is a special level of poor design thought.

That's why levelling up everything is such a pain at times.

This strikes me as a conceptual problem but not a practical one. When I was leveling up crafters and gatherers as a sprout back in Endwalker, the non-master level cap gear from one expansion was good enough to gather and craft all the non-master stuff from the next expansion. Based on that I strongly suspect that the level 90 Integral set will get a player through the non-master crafts and gathering nodes up to level 100, at which point folks can make themselves a Thunderyards set. (I had gotten into master crafting by that point, and my pentamelded Indagator’s set from Endwalker was just fine for all the non-master DT stuff, but that’s master gear so it’s a different story.)

So, is this an oddly backwards relationship between materials and the equipment crafted from them? Yes. Is it likely to obstruct players’ progress? Not at all.

Yeah and I doubt that it's massively intentional. I used my level 80 crafting (scrip) gear to level up to 100 then I just get the new scrip gear, it might be an extra grind but at least I don't have to spend money or time crafting other gear, unless I really want to pentameld the gear which I only do on my main. Cause no way am I spending the money on overmelding again.
