UP/DOWN does not target party members while casting beneficial spells

SE, Thank you for working on Patch 16a. I am very impressed that you continue to work on FFXIV during such a difficult time for Japan.

I am very glad you have added the ability to target party members using UP/DOWN on the controller. I was disappointed to find that I cannot use this targeting method while casting Cure.

As a controller user, when I press UP/DOWN I select Action Bars 1, 2 and 3. Then I select an Ability. At this time I am prompted to select a target, but UP/DOWN does nothing. UP/DOWN does not target party members while casting beneficial spells, which is when I need it most.

Please make UP/DOWN target party members while casting beneficial spells.

    Thank you,
    - Who

    Hiya

Ya, this was one of my biggest peeves when playing this game is how hard it was to quickly cure a party member with a controller. after playing awhile i just started starting using the aoe or not taking my target of the person taking the most dmg, just doesnt work good when hate changes and u gotta scramble.

I'd love it if they'd just give us the targetting functionality of XI's macros. I really, really miss <stpt>, <stpc>, <stnpc>, etc...

Whilst in target mode b you can press left are right to scroll through party members after selecting the spell, obviously you have to have party selected on the targeting icon.

The problem with left/right is that when party members are moving around they can cause you to skip the charcter you are trying to target, then you have to scroll around again, then they move again, so you try hitting the other way to get back to them, but they are now behind someone in an area that is not targetable, so you move to get a better angle -

by this time they are dead.

This is one of my bigger annoyances as well.

I can hit up/down on my D-pad (controller) to target party members, but if I select cure/protect etc, up/down no longer do anything.

I have no doubt this will be addressed before the PS3 launch (it really hurts controller play), but I'm really hoping it's addressed much sooner.

    Greetings, Smashington!
Thank you for posting your concerns about the new targetting modes. I can understand how frustrating it can be to be unable to target players when trying to cure other players. Just for further clarification, though, can you please state which targetting mode have you experienced this trouble in? It would be a great help to us if you were able to provide this information. Also, here are the notes for the commands for the different targetting modes, just in case this information proves to be helpful with your situation:

    Thanks again for your participation!
