Who is your Favorite Final Fantasy Character?

Hiii! So I thought this'd be a nice thread to drop a name!

I'm going to continue to make positive threads like this -- even if they die! Idc. And so~

I'm a BIG FF fan. Anddd I thought it would be nice to have a thread to share who your favorite character is and why (or not, you don't have to share the why if it's too much effort for your capacity today).

Sometimes a character just resonates with us, even if we can’t explain why.

Any Final Fantasy game is welcome — including FFXIV.

Aerith and Yuna are my favorite characters -- from FFVII & FFX.

They represent a feminine energy that brings healing and light to people's lives. I resonate with them because they have beautiful pure hearts. They would sacrifice themselves for the world. Out of love. Out of bravery. To heal others in such a way, where there doesn't have to be any suffering. Or at least a type of suffering can be healed or prevented. They put themselves out there to prevent such suffering. And this I find extremely admirable. I find their aesthetics to be absolutely beautiful! and their character growths. Very elegant and they don't allow anyones underestimations to stop them.

Number One pick is Bartz, then Ramza, Zidane, Balthier, Aerith, Emet Selch, Vivi, G'raha Tia, Estinien, Leveillure Twins, Cecil, Terra, Clive....

My favorite would probably be Locke from FFVI. If I was thinking FFXIV, specifically, I'd say Emet Selch.

No shame in this choice: Zenos

I didn't actually like him much in Stormblood; I didn't appreciate the way he insisted on disregarding everything my character was and had done, claimed everything we valued did not matter, and that they were just like him. As someone who plays for the story, getting told “All of that stuff is irrelevant, you’re just here for the trial boss fight” actually quite annoyed me.

However - in Endwalker, he rescinded that. Acknowledged that those things did matter to the WoL. Even if he didn’t understand those sorts of motivations, he accepted them as real and valid. Which seems obvious, but for him was a massive leap. He still claimed kinship to that part of the WoL who is a thrill seeker though. The part that seeks challenge and conflict; the Raider, the Savage progger, the one who challenges Ultimates; and we were given the option to agree, disagree, or simply declare we’re sick of him and want him dead. No WoL would take his offer to walk away because he simply couldn’t be allowed to leave alive.... but he offered it. He finally understood that he couldn’t force the battle he craved.

His last speech was also a nice callback to how, we as players never started this game to become the Warrior of Light or a beacon of hope… we were all simply adventurers, seeking thrills and ever more challenging fights… not unlike Zenos.

Besides my old choices of Aeris and Garnet (who I actually cosplayed as many years ago), I have to agree with Striker 44 and choose 'Mr Grumpy'.... aka Emet-Selch, aka Hades, aka The Third Seat, aka The Angel of Truth, aka Emperor Solus, aka Shoebill etc etc.

Greatest FF villian ever, and greatest FF character period. He is a perfect example of how to write a character (helped by Rene Zagger's absolutey scenery-devouring vocal casting), and was one of the reasons Shadowbringers still remains FFXIV's high water mark.

I've had a crush on Cecil Harvey since I was a kid, ha ha. My PC is even named after him.

Honourable mentions are Freya, Faris, Quina, Noctis, and Hope. Also, I think Fang is pretty hot, ha ha. If it's FFXIV, favourite character is Matoya, favourite Scion is Krile, and heart-throbs are either Zero or Gaius.
