    Or if you did M7s you'd know that DNC still had to be tethered to the wall and just ghost steps and when they died everyone would flame the dnc

    This is the current's game community in a nutshell, everybody likes pretending this is a MMO and that making it a solo experience with trusts is bad, but then they immediately whine as soon as they actually have to interact with their peers because it's a multiplayer/MMO game with a party of 4/8. Everybody in the party is seen as a potential hurdle or obstacle and having to adjust is today seen as tantamount a capital offense. You could make savage with trusts in the modern times and it would play the same.

    Back in O7S that I'll take as the perfect example in my case, as a MCH you'd need ask the SCH/AST to preshield you individually before pulling because there was a 1/7 chance of the boss casting its buster laser in your face while you had to sit still using Flamethrower for opener. Back then the healer would say "okay!" and run with it and feel useful, today people would just tell you to shove your MCH where it doesn't shine and play BRD instead - or they'd just go to the forums and complain to the devs until they decide to remove the hurdle.

    It was the same thing in the same fight later with adds where MCH and SMN didn't have enough filler damage output to kill their own plane, so tanks would have to step in and help once they were done with their own mechanics. Today people would just scream to the devs so that they "fix MCH and SMN damage profile so that they can deal with their adds on their own".

    I don't think it's bad that DNCs need to think about their range from time to time, it's a particularity of the job. What we should have is a range indicator on point blank abilities though to not be guessing whether it's enough or not, just like we need a positional indicator when we fail them.

    If anything, I miss having to run up closer during my Flourish windows for 2 GCDs like back in ShB. It also give more reason for En Avant to exists outside ‘oops I’m out of position!’, plus more buttons that may proc fan dances. This “Savage/Ultimate design >>>>>> everything else”-mentality is getting more comical by the year—both from the job devs & players alike.

    The only thing I seen from this thread that I would agree to have is a better UI to tell you how many yalms you are apart from target’s hitbox.

    they have a 30 meter diameter and the dancers position for anything is not at the far edges, it is a medium to close range job.

    How would you avoid pulling bosses when doing tech opener though? Most boss arenas don't have enough room for 25y standard.

    It wouldn't even necessarily need a UI change, just some kind of particle effect around the Finish's max range while you're dancing.
