No one wants a game like XI again.

And most of us are done with the so-called Square Enix Originality©.

I'm not. I like originality. I like people/companies that are willing to take a chance and try something new rather than be a clone. You think WoW just said: Let's clone (whoever is popular). They took a chance and succeeded.

Sometimes you succeed, sometimes you fail. But without taking a chance, you are already a failure.

We have seen what's XIV 1.0 was all about in term originality. Sure it was unique... uniquely terrible.

As for taking a chance, the game already used it. It failed. When you can't be original on certain game aspects, don't try. SE learned its lesson for the UI and we are now getting a standard UI that will do the job, even while being less original.

Can't be that terrible? Yeah first AAA MMO in the history which went completely free for months while a pay to play model was announced. Even Wada-san saying it caused damage to the whole franchise. Not terrible you said? Half of the dev team changed few months after release. What is terrible then? You just have low expectations I think.

Oh dear. You confuse wanting a game 'like' XI, and wanting XI. I'm not sure I'll be able to clearly express myself to you if it is hard to get that simple point across ; ;

As for taking a chance, the game already used it. It failed. When you can't be original on certain game aspects, don't try.

If you can't be original don't try? That is a very sad and defeatist attitude. Everyone should continuously strive to try out new things. Be courageous to see what is the next boundary we can break. Or we could all go back to playing text adventure games?

If the game still being alive and getting a full reboot is your definition of 'terrible', then what must you call games that actually shut down. Perhaps it is a language barrier with taru-speak. There are different grades of success. It is not just 'terrible' or 'OMG AWESOME'.

This game is getting a full reboot because it is named Final Fantasy and is made by Square Enix. If it wasn't SE but instead a company that was relying on this very project alone to make money, the game would have been shut down and lot of people would have been fired. Like some MMOs sadly failed recently. You cannot feed 300+ DEVs and a several multiregional teams with no income at all.

Instead it's SE, they have money coming from other projects (and not only games as well), so they can afford themselves to simply "change" the DEV team and continue sinking money into the project in order to make the project worthwhile but and also, save what's more important above everything else, the Final Fantasy brand.

As the time of release, the game was terrible. It improved now yes. But we were talking about the game at release timing. And if we are still here, it's because of that full reboot being announced. There wouldn't be as many players here if SE would simply had said "deal with it, we're not making a new game and keeping it that way".
