@Tonkra Don't want to use DMeters? Then don't. No one here is forcing you to. DMeters helps people who want to gauge the difference between several high end gear sets or just throwing in one item in the loop. You obviously don't care about this stuff so drop it but accept the fact that DMeters will be in the game in some form.

^ my wow ui (looked through my screens) the least amount of stuff on my screen the better. I try to play my games without all of that stuff that'll distract me from the actual game. I don't really plan on modding my UI, only moving the bars around to where I want them. I'm more of a purist, I don't like modding my games. Even minecraft I don't mod. I feel that if you can play the game with just what's provided to you then you're a better player.

Edit: Just thought about it. Not better then other people though.

DMG meters also help figure out the effect of stats and stuff on Abilities. i use it to see if a gear setup is better for a fight, what spell/abilities to use against certain mobs. also for thoes saying damage meter will force DPS checks and what not.. look if the elitist dont check your DPS they will check your gear.

If anyone is wondering how my UI looks in action:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GE99Vs1dtLs

Everything important (text-wise) is on the center. Charts at the bottom. Bottom right is the entire raid. Bottom left is chat window.

My initial point was I don't want it to take the game over . Then again the FF population is pretty nice and cool people. I don't think it'll be a problem.

This "minimallistic" style of UI can be done for FFXIV aswell in terms of design.

Not directed to anyone in particular:
Anyone doubting me will be shocked sooner or later even if you hate "UI" mods or not.
Not all UI mods / addons will be visible all at the same time, these things can be set to hide/show.

If people want minimal information shown on their screen or a less cluttered UI messing up their gameplay,
then this option can be chosen from multiple user created addons/mods. (not all designers share same ideas)
( It's no more diffrent from some of our cool custom-made signatures, its basicly the same idea.)

Thats the main point of it all, customization for any user.

You could even minimize the entire UI to one small bar at the bottom for example,
and by clicking 1 icon it could make the minimap to pop up or dissapear completly.

I like the idea of the party members "threat Meter",
that can be easily added via a small indicator on the party window.
Just a small dot that changes color indicating the party members current threat.

It's insane how many people are posting screenshots of terrible WOW UI's and pretending like that's the de-facto UI in WOW. You can get everything from minimalist UIs with just a map and text box, to clusterf**k spreadsheet UI. It's like you guys haven't even done any UI customization.

This is already possible in 2.0. The threat meter is the little colored bar next to party member's name in the party list. What we don't have, and I'm expecting we will sooner or later, is have this information in numerical form and on a bar graph. The bar graph gives you an at-a-glance view oh who is on top and who is about to pull without having to worry about color or number of the bar.

Edit: Actually the bar has different sizes in some of the screenshots for 2.0. But I don't see this on any of the new Gamescom one. Er nevermind none of those show the player in a group.

Gives them the illusion that they're proving their point when in reality, they don't have one. They're just out to complain about anything that makes this game even remotely resemble another MMO.

Customization for my action bar size/amount/location
    HP,HP%,MP, and MP% for everything I target
Customization for viewing my PT/Alliance list
Some sort of Auction House Add On where I can check prices without being in a city. Being notified when my crap sells would be cool too.
