To be honest, if true that's really stupid reasoning. If my skill is thematically a teleport (including jumps here), it should act as a literal teleport and allow me to bypass things such as gaps in the floor or death walls. Otherwise what's the point? It's asinine, really. It doesn't even ruin encounter design because very few jobs have a literal teleport. Off the top of my head it's what? DRG, RPR, DRK, and BLM? So what if the occasional random mechanic favors them slightly? If anything that would make job design more interesting.
