2) Nothing particularly, but the only things I tend to do when I play is Frontlines or Ocean Fishing as of late. Does that count ?

3) I like that I can do most things quickly with little commitment.

4) When I was still very new and not far in the story, my FC leader was kind enough to help me through several dungeons where tanks had instantly ditched the party. They had a very positive impact when I was deciding whether or not to stick it out in this game.

6) Try not to be heavily influenced by the opinions of others when judging the game, and try making some friends.

12) Individuals have vastly different experiences when playing this game, so keep an open mind when seeing the feedback and views of others. I don't have any strong feelings about the game compared to other players but my overall experiences within the game have been cordial.

1) When Did you Start?:
First open beta of 1.0. Played a bit after launch and then left until about 1.2. Have been playing most of the time since.

2) What keeps you playing FFXIV?:
Story, music, long term goals.

3) What do you enjoy most about the game?:
Open world content (Eureka, Bozja, Occult Crescent)
Ivalice is my favorite raid.

4) Favorite memory or moment?:
The Orbonne Monastery. Even now that it's a shadow of its original difficulty, I love Ivalice dearly.

5) What makes FFXIV different from other MMOs for you?:
Story, music, and aesthetic.

6) What would you say to someone thinking of trying FFXIV?:
It's hard to recommend in 2025. I love the game, but level 50 and 60 content have not aged since only a fraction of each job's abilities can be used. Though I love the story, it takes hundreds of hours to catch up, and new players need to know how much time they should be expected to invest to reach end game.

Primal, Excalibur and Hyperion.

10) Glam style you always come back to?:
Fistfighter's Jackcoat because it feels very Castlevania.

Orbonne Monastery & the Burn

12) Closing thought:
Power creep is XIV's worst enemy. I love XIV and hope for the best, but I also think that Creative Studio 3 needs to make real plans for the longevity of the game- especially older areas. Old content needs to be periodically adjusted for difficulty, or we will continue to be overpowered. Crystal Tower was amazibg when it released, but now it's a boring slog. Old content should have some bite, just like new content! Make it feel rewarding to complete. It doesn't need to be crazy hard, but old duties need to be tuned better over time.

1) When Did you Start?: A couple months after 5.0.

2) What keeps you playing FFXIV?: In spite of all my complaining, I do love the combat gameplay loop, (most of) the story and the world.

3) What do you enjoy most about the game?: The combat. No other game I've played scratches the same itch of mastering a rotation and flawlessly beating a combat encounter.

4) Favorite memory or moment?: The shadowbringers msq was something special. It was almost certainly lightning in a bottle not just for FF but SE as a whole, but in the moment it was an amazing experience.

5) What makes FFXIV different from other MMOs for you?: There are other things to do apart from just raiding and grinding, and I've always loved FF since I was a child.

6) What would you say to someone thinking of trying FFXIV?: No matter what people may tell you, it's an MMO first and an FF game a distant second. People will expect you to learn and improve as you level. Never ever level boost under any circumstance, and healers do damage.

7) Favorite emote?: probably /unbound for how unapologetically stupid it is.

8) Favorite job to relax on?: Mch, easily.

9) Preferred server or data center?: they're all equally bad in their own special ways.

10) Glam style you always come back to?: Capes, long coats, brimmed hats, various other edgelord attire.

11) A dungeon, trial, or raid you secretly love?: "Secretly" implies a guilty pleasure, and in that respect it would probably be Origenics. Don't get me wrong, it's easily the worst DT dungeon and it's riddled with flaws, but I'd rather run Origenics 4 days a week than suffer through an ARR dungeon. I don't love it by any stretch, but it's the lesser of two evils.

12) Closing thought: I still love this game immensely in spite of it's various glaring flaws, and I constantly complain about it in the hopes that it will improve.

I joined toward the end of the Shadowbringers Expansion.

2) What keeps you playing FFXIV?:

I'm not on much, but I suppose my houses keep me playing. I RP in discord nowadays otherwise.

3) What do you enjoy most about the game?:

I would say housing at this point. My answer used to be story, maybe it will be again someday, but I very much do not like Dawntrail.

4) Favorite memory or moment?:

All Saints Wake lore from a couple years ago; the past two years have been lackluster (I only heard this year, didn't bother doing it). But the idea of showing the world that voidsent can retain their former selves, and be people, while still being voidsent, is my favorite thing. I love voidsent a lot and while I'm incredibly unhappy with the final patch before dawntrail (my personal most hated in the game...), other than that, a lot of the voidsent lore has been great.

5) What makes FFXIV different from other MMOs for you?:

Right now? Housing, I suppose. Customization's not great, story's not great, but it is what it is.

6) What would you say to someone thinking of trying FFXIV?:

Blasphemy, but skip ARR.

7) Favorite emote?: Can't think of one off the top of my head, but I do love the emotes in general.

8) Favorite job to relax on?: RPR or DRK

10) Glam style you always come back to?: Gothic

11) A dungeon, trial, or raid you secretly love?: The Sorrow of Werlyt Quests if this counts. Best story in the game (aside from DRK class quests, those have got to be my all time fav), imo, extremely heavy.

12) Closing thought: I hope the next expansion brings back my love of the game, I'm realizing while filling this out that I just... don't feel much anymore for it like I used to. A huge meh for me is the lack of alt friendliness. I really don't care to focus on just one character. I also find story very important, so when the ball is dropped so hard, I just lose motivation for everything. I really hope more heavy fantasy themes are brought back in the next expansion.

1) When Did you Start?:

Shortly after EW launch, after the game was again available for purchase for new players. IRL I had a rough time before that and long long time ago, I enjoyed playing online games and as an FF fan, I wanted to immerse myself into XIV world - no regrets!

2) What keeps you playing FFXIV?:

I am only doing casual content (dungeons/trials/raids/field exploration/deep dungeon) and even when there are dry spells, I always enjoy coming back. Mostly its my friends who I met IG luring me back. I have only managed to find a handful but those are very amazing

3) What do you enjoy most about the game?:

OST, world design, meeting new players in duties and overcoming challenges. Especially when things go wrong and odds are stacked against you in trials/raids.

4) Favorite memory or moment?:

Single duty at the end of EW - Wish we had more of these!

5) What makes FFXIV different from other MMOs for you?:

I am out of touch with modern mmo's and frankly I refused and avoided to dip my toes into wow, but when I compare it to the mmo's/online rpg's I played I played in the past (GW1/2, SWTOR, f2p korean mmo's...) the biggest change is how accessible everything is. People tend to forget how terrible old mmo's were in this regard by having the endgame meta excluding majority of classes/roles or having weird entry restrictions to any piece of content. Of course this might be different for Raiders. Also, the community ig is very positive and helpful, also very artistic - it amazes me what people can do with the glam options or adventurer plates.

6) What would you say to someone thinking of trying FFXIV?:

Go for it, its a long and rewarding journey!

For PLD/DRK I try to stay close to FFIV or the job identity in general. With GNB I like to go a bit adventurous or like a mercenary. TBH I have no casual glams.

I am happy this thread exists... it's important to highlight also the positive aspects of this game and not turn it into a echochamber. Regarding XIV, I really hope CS3 rethinks alot of aspects regarding their game development, there are many fields they need to improve on (Patch cadence, Quantity and Quality of content, Gameplay loop, etc.) - So looking forwared to what next expansion brings.

You can criticize. You have freedom of speech. But what really, is your intention?
Because for me it is to spread -- positivity. I want to exude positivity to others.
If others perceive it negatively -- like you are. That's not for me to hold. That's what ever is going on inside of you and your wiring (your nervous system).

I truly wish you well. But don't you project your negativity onto me. When I'm nothing to do with the root of this.
