1) When Did you Start?: Early 5.2., good times.

2) What keeps you playing FFXIV?: It saves me A LOT money over the years because I have other hobbies that's more expensive to satiate IRL lol.

3) What do you enjoy most about the game?: MSQ, RPing, writing headcanons, making robust OC, the musics, and its aesthetic.

4) Favorite memory or moment?: The first day I made my character. I recall seeing FFXIV for the first time a decade ago but I was still a poor high school boy in those days, and subs based games are just too inaccessible back then. I gradually forget about this game until one of my friend wanted to bring me to FFXIV when the covid strikes and we all had waaay more time on hand at homes. That was such an exhiliarating moment to recall - to finally get to try this game!

5) What makes FFXIV different from other MMOs for you?: Its lax environment? Although too lax in some ways imo.

6) What would you say to someone thinking of trying FFXIV?: "If you want to play something without requiring brainpower, here's the game for you."

7) Favorite emote?: /songbird, /hum, /handtoheart, /dote, /wringhands

8) Favorite job to relax on?: Idk what it means to 'relax on' in a job because I aim to play my best with whatever jobs and content I pick to play in.

9) Preferred server or data center?: It's a mixed bag. On one hand I like Aether because DF pops the fastest. But I also want people to be more talkative which I only see more often in Crystal?

10) Glam style you always come back to?: None, or rather, impossible to iterate because I will always come back to every style that I ever tried out, one way or another.

11) A dungeon, trial, or raid you secretly love?: All Ivalice Raids, BA, CLL, Dalriada, & DRN.

12) Closing thought: Hey SE, invest the money you make off this game back to this game and steer away from AI slop? That would be great.

I started in 2013 when FFXIV 2.0 got released.

2) What keeps you playing FFXIV?:

Main story and Hildibrand Adventures story.

3) What do you enjoy most about the game?:

I enjoy the glamour system, housing and music.

4) Favorite memory or moment?:

My favorite moment was when The Orbonne Monastery alliance raid got added, which was by far most challenging and most fun alliance raid before it got heavily nerfed.

Slower phased combat.

6) What would you say to someone thinking of trying FFXIV?:

I would say don't rush with content.

I keep going back to Housemaid's dress glamour set when i simply love the look of Housemaid's dress glamour set and it's my most uses glamour set too.

The Tower at Paradigm's Breach alliance raid

I always loved FFXIV when i started playing it but currently i really don't like the direction the FFXIV is going and hope patch 8.0 or 9.0 makes huge changes to the entire game to make things better again.
But other then that i still had lots of good memories playing FFXIV and i still keep playing it even have started to play FFXIV lot less recently.

2) What keeps you playing FFXIV?: My friend plays the game a lot, but their FC was dead ish and she was running content by themselves so i thought id hop in and make it a little more lively. So i log in often to finish up all of the yellow quests and other stuff i missed blazing through the MSQ

3) What do you enjoy most about the game?: The fights are fun, ive been enjoying Occult crescent alot

4) Favorite memory or moment?:Kam'lanaut fight in the second walk. Playing it on release was fun since no one knew what they hell they were doing. Me n my bud also Both played tank and Q'd in separate to get our own alliances and it was fun checking in and asking how mine and their healer and dps's where holding up.

5) What makes FFXIV different from other MMOs for you?: Havent played any other MMO

6) What would you say to someone thinking of trying FFXIV?: ARR fucking sucks and its literally "It takes 50 hours to get good bro"

1) When Did you Start?:
Technically August 2020; made a character and picked Thaumaturge as my starting job. I didn't enjoy it and gave up after week or so.
However, I didn't dislike it enough that the game didn't stay in the back of my mind and fact that I was unhappy playing an MMO I'd played for over a decade (as it had become too gamblebox focused), and with prompting from my best friend, I decided to give FFXIV another look in December 2021. I was grateful I made that free trial account a year earlier as this was that period of time when Endwalker was still new and the so-called 'WoW exodus' was in full- swing.
Made a new character (as didn't realise that A: didn't really need to and B: Fantasia existed) and selected Archer as my starting job.
And I never looked back

2) What keeps you playing FFXIV?:
Mostly my friends. But I'd have to say I like challenging myself. I'll confess that I am not very good at the game! My reaction speed is often sloppy, I struggle to remember mechanics and I make stupid mistakes with embarrassing frequency - which isn't to say I don't try - I really do, and I do get it right sometimes. And thankfully the aforementioned friends I've made don't mind and I've even managed to clear a few Extremes with their help and guidance.

3) What do you enjoy most about the game?:
Playing alongside friends.
The MSQ. What a journey!

4) Favorite memory or moment?:
Clearing 'Recollection: Extreme' - even more so since it was still new at the time:


5) What makes FFXIV different from other MMOs for you?:
The fact it's very story-driven.
Friendly in-game community - so easy to make friends.
Generally, in-game teams are forgiving of mistakes!
No gambleboxes!

6) What would you say to someone thinking of trying FFXIV?:
(After waxing lyrical about how much 'I' enjoy it) - "give it a try and decide for yourself; I don't think you'll regret it!"

I don't really find any job 'relaxing' to be honest although I guess Dancer would be the closest.

Light Data Center (Phoenix)

The Theophany set - particularly since glam restrictions were dropped!

11) A dungeon, trial, or raid you secretly love?:
'The Final Day'. Love it, and always happy when it comes up in Trial Roulette. Particularly love the transition to phase 2 and the phase 2 fight itself. And have to give that epic music a mention!

Whilst don't wish to end on a negative as I do still love the game, I do agree with Rein_eon_Osborne - SE needs to funnel more of the money the game generates back into the game.

Its quite disheartening to see so many answer question 6 by turning folks away from FFXIV. Even if endgame or Dawntrail (basegame) are not as good as prior expansions, the game overall has got a lot going for it (expecially for folks who are new). If this game wasnt good it wouldnt be in the top 5 MMOs for so many people. Yes, it has its flaws, all MMOs and games do, but I honestly feel that the game has a lot to offer and that basing your entire opinion on one aspect of the game (endgame or a section of the story) does it a gross disservice. Granted I am not blind, I understand that there is a need for change, and I wholeheartedly agree, but I wont shun everything that came before or will come after purely because Dawntrail wasnt up to expectations. Similarily, for the folks who dislike ARR, I get it, it can feel like a slog for some, but also keep in mind there are folks out there who greatly enjoyed A Realm Reborn, myself included, and feel that the harsh criticism against it are unjustified.

But to each their own, I just hope if anyone new comes across this thread, they will take some of these folks responses with a grain of salt and try out the free trial at the least and make up their own mind whether its good or bad.

1) When Did you Start?: Spring 2015, though that was just kinda testing the waters. Was on and off for several years, around Spring 2021 I left WoW for good and FFXIV has been my main MMO ever since.

2) What keeps you playing FFXIV?: There's so much to do and I enjoy it! Currently leveling all classes to 70 to see all the class stories, also have crafting/gathering, Variant dungeon routes, and I love hunting achievements in general.

3) What do you enjoy most about the game?: The story and the music. I'm someone who's generally enjoyed it so far from beginning to end. Never understood the "it gets better after ARR" because I thought ARR itself rocked, and I've had a fun time in DT, too. Only part of the story I never really got into was Zenos.

4) Favorite memory or moment?: The Endsinger fight in EW, specifically when Phase 2 kicks in and you get the awesome FFIV callback.

5) What makes FFXIV different from other MMOs for you?: That you can play every class on one character. I'm someone who loves the story, but really only wants to play through it once. I also love having at least one of each main role so I can do whichever I want at any time (Tank/Healer/DPS). Games like WoW or GW2 were great at the points where you had so many different options to level, you could level different toons and see different parts of the story each time, but that only lasts so long. Eventually you reach a point where everyone is funneled through the same story, and re-doing the story each time is just very tedious to me. Only having to play through it once in FFXIV means I absolutely love it that first time, and don't have it reduced by needing to repeat it ad nauseum.

6) What would you say to someone thinking of trying FFXIV?: This is truly a game where the journey is the point. Some games (thinking again of WoW) are often seen as "beginning at max level" and the story is just designed to usher you to max level. FFXIV is different. You're supposed to savor the story and the leveling process, not just rush to max level. If you like that kind of thing, FFXIV may well be for you .

10) Glam style you always come back to?: I have a couple for each role. My tank tends to be my purple dragoon style with the postmoogle cap. DPS still uses the robe I got back in ARR I think and just really liked the design (can't for the life of me remember the name, though).

11) A dungeon, trial, or raid you secretly love?: The Dead Ends. Oh yeah, and Smileton.
