    SEA player support

    Someone might have already made a thread like this in the past but I don't think YoshiP read it or maybe he read it but there's nothing he can do about it. Another guessing game over our rights as a paid customer like everyone else who's playing this game.

    WE SEA PLAYERS LOVE FFXIV.
    I don't know man. I've been supporting this game since 2018. If I were to count how much I spent compared to my country cost of living and economy (Malaysia) people who label me as an irresponsible individual. Sure. I use this game as my only comfort game to take a break from real life (like everyone else do). I don't regret spending money on it at all but just one problem. Actually this one problem caused so many other problems to exist as well.

    First of all, we had to pay everything in US dollars with our weak currencies because we can't have our own region as an address. We had to use fake addresses just to register. In my case I'm using an actual address of someone who I considered a family. Trust me all SEA players are using a fake address even the famous streamers that YoshiP invited into his Media Tour program.

    You invited SEA streamers into your program but casually turning a blind eye over how you don't give them support for their region. How sad is that?

    Secondly, we can't buy any merchandise from the official Square Enix store. Oh we can actually but they're x2 the original price from resellers on Lazada or Shopee. I have so many things that I'd like to buy from the store. I promise. I want the hoodie, I want the jobstones, I want the music boxes but no..no SEA players allowed. Just take my money man..

    Third, the no SEA adress allowed made it even harder for us to give you money. We can't use steam wallet, can't use some of the visa cards, and just many other payment issues in general. This can be avoided with paypal and crysta but sometimes none of them work. Basically it's because we have a diff address on our account so you can't use your card because it's on a different region.

    And lastly..I'm not asking for our own Data Centre. Just SEA support. Idc I'm playing on NA with my 200ms because of friends. Idc about data centre at all. Please YoshiP we love FFXIV like everyone else. We paid money like everyone else.

    GIVE US SEA PLAYER SUPPORT!

    This also applies for weird regions like Hong Kong that don't fall under any specific DC but are still expected to play on the global version, and therefore get put on the NA store. I had to use an American friend's address to pre-order Dawntrail because I literally couldn't put my own address into the pre-order form even though Hong Kong's little flag is right next to the US and Singapore(???) in the MogStation.

    Even if non-CN/KR/JP regions of Asia never get their own DC because of a lack of population/interest, they should at least make the Squeenix store and MogStation friendlier to those regions and let them buy merch. I know that there's allegedly a SEA/HK/TW server coming out later this year, but a lot of people are still going to play on global for the sake of being able to play with friends, as I'm sure is the case with a lot of people on global who would regularly be categorised under CN/KR.

    I've have been staying in California 90210 since 2010 in Eorzea lol Is it that important? As long they deduct my credit card correctly, I have no concerns.

    They should've just made this available globally tbh
    At this point, they need to actually stop taking the "smOl iNdie c0mpaNy" meme seriously.
    They have the fund. They just chose to use them to invest on other games that won't even give them the same amount of profits they got through FFXIV.

    The damn free trial IS ON STEAM BUT NOT THE FULL GAME.
    Just remove the goddamn free trial on there if you won't let the SEA players purchase it.

    I agree. Two players on two sides of the globe paying for the same product should expect to have comparable service. I understand that's logistically easier said than done, but Square is an established company, and FFXIV players who are being advertised to by both content creators from SEA and outside SEA should be able to get a consistent product offering. Making it challenging for players to pay for the product isn't a good move for the health of the MMO, as there may be people deciding ultimately not to subscribe because of the hassle of navigating the payment system in their country. This is obviously the primary issue.

    You also mention the resale market on official merch, which I think is a less essential, but a worldwide issue: there are parts of the FFXIV official merch line that are just not purchasable in certain countries, which is creating a predatory resale market. Square is leaving money on the table, and people are profiting from it. Granted, I don't think the answer is to harass people involved in the secondary market of official merch, but this market wouldn't exist if Square didn't make it so hard for people to buy some of this stuff. I get that shipping costs vary by country, but as a US customer, they've never been shy about passing off the shipping fees to me.

    I hope Square will consider revisiting their SEA customer experience, and any other regions/countries that have similar problems.

    Not an SEA player myself but bumping in solidarity.

    It's completely unfair that SEA players have to jump through so many hoops just to play the game and buy merchandise.

    Square Enix, such an embarrassment, when it comes to Accounts and Account management.

    We need options for change of country, region, and my god, currency.
