Garlemald's redemption arc (Spoiler about 7.4)

So learning about the withering and that the twins are heading back to Garlemald, i have an thought of the Garlean people would have an redemption arc, assistance us to fight against this 'withering' if it is in Blindfrost which is located between ilsabard and Othard.

I know that the people of the source hasn't forgiving Garlemald, but if they would help the Warrior of Light in someway they can, it would show everyone that the Garleans really want to change their ways.

It would be a nice sub plot to be sure.

It would certainly be an interesting focus for some Werlyt-type sidequests.

Perhaps they could answer the question of what happened to some of the missing legions in such a series too.

That would be nice to learn too. Not to mention if there are any Weapons left that we didn't know off.

I agree that it will be some time before the people of the source move past their current feelings of Garlemald but, even the most jaded of them would probably agree that they have suffered enough.

Their entire civilization is in ruins, a majority of their people have been killed, it’s time to heal and rebuild from such a terrible war. Just like how it took Europe a long time to move past the Germany of WWII, so will it take time for Garlemald. They will rebuild and if done with care from the alliance, a better country will emerge. The healing will take generations though so no side quest will result in actual restoration and resolution.

My peak expansion would be Celtic and/or Norse themed content in Ilsabard, with a bit of restoring Garlemald on the side. And with how things are panning out with all the hints from this patch, events, etc it seems to be leaning that direction. You could do something like Corvos as the city and a rebuilt Garlean base as the hub. And we could finally get another Doman Restoration style project to fix up a town.

Eh, I've got no personal interest in helping out Garlemald, I'm perfectly fine leaving them in the hole they dug for themselves while I lend my help elsewhere.

Everytime I reach out and offer them a helping hand, I only get bitten. Maybe they have indeed not suffered enough?
And I'm just an annoyed player. Seeing how the inhabitants of the provinces had to suffer under Garlean rule, I pretty much doubt that even a handful would be ready to forgive the immense Garlean crimes.

There is still the continent proper to be explored. We know the 4th saw the writing on the wall and tried to carve out it's own nation only for us to stop it. Would probably be the same situation with the last remaining legions.

Least from someones list the remaining legions are 4th (lost most coveted land), 5th (unknown), 6th (stuck in azys Lla), 8th and 9th (unknown), 10th (was going to aid the 1st before faltering, unknown), and 13th (unknown)

Didn't Yoshi hint that 8.0 is going to be a cold/frozen environment? Most speculation seems to be the Isles of Blindfrost. So my guess is, between the twins going back to Garlemald, and the talk of the Winterers, we're likely doing a stop in Garlemald and then heading to Blindfrost.

Well firstly, we helped setup a small government in Garlemald and create trade relations with places like Radz-at-Han. It seems like Alphinaud and Alisaie are going back to further increase those trade relations. However, my hope is this is a way to write them out of the story, because SE knows we are sick and tired of the scions.

Secondly, if you did the Endwalker role quests, spoiler alert, Garlemald is forward-looking and finds its future on the moon.

Thirdly, we now know that winterers indeed seem to have little to do with winter itself. It's about some sort of withering of the shards themselves as a result of Hydaelyn not being around to maintain them, and the winterers are to survive that withering. As such, it's more likely we are going to other shards (and possibly even shard-hop), rather than going to Blindfrost.
