I think the ddos will have something to do with the maintenance if it was just for plates it would have been announced days ago and not out of the blue on the day

It won't. DDoS are not caused by server code, and the server technically doesn't even go offline or anything.

It is comparable to having a themepark with the only road leading into it blocked off by an elephant. It's technically not the themepark owner's fault...

They can try to code DDoS mitigation such as longer client timeouts, jumping queues if the client is still present in the game but resetting the connection, progress preservation measures such as the deep dungeon change (which hasn't worked that well), but that's about it. It wouldn't be like SE to do anything such as this though.

Note nothing has changed from that maintenance at all. The frequency of disconnects hasn't even changed. Those bugs they fixed were likely less than even a drop of sweat in a swimming pool.

It is propably not a spaghetti code error. It is very likely, that the SQEXs NA ISP is the reason for it. There are reports, that you can fix this issue with VPNs. If the server software would be the reason then this method would not work.
