Well SE nor any other company can do much about DDoS when it occur and that is a fact, you could try and run to one of the other DCs with your character during the duration and have maybe like a ping of 80-100 in an EU DC.

The maintenance is just to fix a minor issue with Adventurer Plates and glamouring between SMN and SCH. An understandable oversight because the dual job system on ACN has long been a source of problems for new features.

I dunno, looks like maybe our retainers were causing problems:
"・Under certain conditions, summoning retainers caused server outages.
・In Cosmic Exploration, the server would crash in rare instances when completing Mech Ops under certain conditions."
This is a step up from swiping roofs!

If that is the case, it begs the question of why other dcs are not having such a problem compared to NA node.I dunno, looks like maybe our retainers were causing problems:

Multiple things happening at once. Some actual DDOS mixed in with our retainers stealing the server hamsters. In any event, it looks like at least some of the issue should be fixed now. As insane as it is to have our retainers crashing the servers!
Outside of the DDOS there was a hardware issue causing disconnects that they fixed a few days ago. Issue was only on Primal to be clear.
I think the ddos will have something to do with the maintenance if it was just for plates it would have been announced days ago and not out of the blue on the day

It won't. DDoS are not caused by server code, and the server technically doesn't even go offline or anything.
It is comparable to having a themepark with the only road leading into it blocked off by an elephant. It's technically not the themepark owner's fault...
They can try to code DDoS mitigation such as longer client timeouts, jumping queues if the client is still present in the game but resetting the connection, progress preservation measures such as the deep dungeon change (which hasn't worked that well), but that's about it. It wouldn't be like SE to do anything such as this though.
