    a Few ideas for Machinist

    [1 of 2]

I have a few ideas for Machinist that i would like to see implemented, as i feel they will play more into the machine & engineering part of the job, here they are:

    #1. Automaton King & Queen:

My idea is to have 2 version of the Automaton summons:
Automaton Queen: will be used for single target, meaning even the overload attacks will be single target.
Automaton King: for Multi Targets, the Automaton king can be a callback to FF7 Barret, with a Machine gun for hand that attacks the target and all enemies around it, overloading afterwards with "Big Shot" attack followed up by "catastrophe".

    #2. Rework MCH tools

MCH will have 4 basic Tools which are upgraded to advanced Tools with the use of Reassemble ability:

    > Basic Tools:

1.Drill: 650 pt. single target dmg + increase battery by 10.

    2.Bioblaster: 50 pt. Aoe dmg + 50 pt DoT for 15S + increase battery by 10.

(both Drill & Bioblaster will have 2 charges and a shared cooldown of 20s).

3.Air Anchor: 500 pt. Single target + inflict 3 stacks of "Heat" for 30s + increase battery by 10.
("Heat" effect: damage the target with 50 pt. when they execute an action, 1 stack is consumed afterwards)

4.Chainsaw: 300 pt. line dmg to on target and others + increase battery by 10.

(both Air Anchor & Chainsaw will have 2 charges and a shared cooldown of 30s).

    > Reassemble:
    - changes each Basic Tool to their Advanced version.
    - will have 2 charges with a 60s cooldown.
    - each execution of a "Basic Tool" attack will reduce Reassemble's cooldown by 5s.

    > Advanced Tools:

1.Drill-> Laser Cannon: 900 pt. single target dmg + increase battery by 20.

    2.Bioblaster-> Flamethrower: 150 pt. Aoe dmg + 90 pt DoT for 15S + increase battery by 20.

3.Air Anchor-> Gravity blast: 650 pt. Single target + 5 stacks of "Heat" for 30s + increase battery by 20.

4.Chainsaw-> Excavator: 600 pt. line dmg to on target and others + increase battery by 20

    ..

#3. Bring back Auto-turrets as pets

for this to work, Pets in FFXIV overall must be guaranteed to do the following:
    1. continuously move to be within close range of the player
    2. Execute and cast actions while moving, no need to stop for casting.
    3. ensure "Almost" zero delay with actions.

if above points are assured, then Auto-turrets can be implemented with the following features:

    > Auto attack:
    1. the Turret will continuously attack the targeted enemy upon engaging.
    2. if the player executes any AoE weaponskills, the Turret will switch to Multi mode, attacking the target and all around it, and will switch back to single target mode upon executing any Single target weaponskills.

    > Abilities:
    1. MCH abilities (Gauss Round/Double Check) & (Ricochet/Checkmate) will be repurposed into Turrets abilities.
(and during hypercharge, both Blazing shot & Auto Crossbow will reduce the cooldown of the abilities)

    >(optional Feature) appearance customization:
the player will be able to change the appearance of the Auto-turret at the MCH guild, and more options will be available with content completion, for example the options can include (Allagan node, Nier Pod, Goblin's machina, Loporrit themed turret,...etc.).

would love to hear your thoughts.

If pets do what you say, and assuming you also do not want them to be vulnerable to AoE damage, then there is no reason to have them as pets.

That is, the devs could "fake" them having an entry in the group window, but they don't need to exist as selectable entities at all. They're just external DoTs at that point, since they have no failure point that isn't based on the player controlling them, just like missing a DoT-reapplication or so.

I'm not against it mind you, visually and theme-wise it's a neat choice for a lot of classes, but it is weird for players to always want "more pets" but also not want separate entities around the battlefield which is kinda what pets ought to be, no?

Yeah, this is something I agree with, and as a smn is something I've felt self-conflicted on (in that I don't even see why we should be needing to manually cast Summon Carbuncle, compared to other Summon spells, but I feel like that could cause issues, even with the current-day deal of Carbuncle hardly having a purpose at all anymore besides providing a shield that you don't have access to a majority of the time since it specifically requires Carbuncle to be out).

I think officially changing our pets to attachments (for lack of a better word) could solve some problems, but that'll definitely officiate the removal of pets altogether (outside presumably however Beast Master might work- but hey, limited job).

Digressing, having reassemble boost certain things into new weaponskills, seems like a cool idea, and it would certainly be a way to complicate the job from its current state as mch works to figure out whatever is most optimal for the moment.
