This is not correct. The developers had already planned to make those changes but decided not to do it until later. It had nothing to do with player feedback. The only thing they kept in mind when accounting for player feedback was the positionals, since the developers were going to cut back on them.

I love how this is somehow worse of a situation than them responding to feedback with 2 upvotes

Releasing a build you know you are going to change then ignoring calls to not change it
